Heart Flutter Makes Me Cough
Vagal Stimulation: Cough and palpitations may be mediated by the same nerve in the body (called the vagus nerve). With significant coughing irriation of the nerve can take place resulting in palpitations or tachycardia (fast heart beat). Usually palpitations associated with coughing are safe but you should be evaluated by a health care provider to be sure.See 1 more doctor answer
The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more
Had virtually every diagnostic test- all negative. Still have constant palpitations, spasms in heart, cough, heart fluttering, chest pain. What is it?
Difficult to answer: These significant symptoms require a person to person evaluation, examination by a doctor, and a variety of testing. A Cardiologist is who you need to consult with. If you have already seen one, then I would recommend a second opinion by another one.
Sometimes after eating junk food /having beer, when I lie down I get a heart flutter that my heart races for aboutt 10 seconds. Goes away when I cough?
Aware of Heart Beat: Heart flutter is an awareness of your heart beat. It may be related to a rapid heart beat, or extra beats and is often referred to as palpitations. It may be caused by stress, medication, or other lifestyle considerations and in the absence of structural heart disease is of little concern. It however also can be a marker of a serious heart problem so if persistent consult your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
It is possible: It is possible that a particular smell could cause a "heart flutter" in an individual. Heart flutter refers to a palpitation. Yes: Atrial fibrillation, one of the most rhythm disturbances, can be caused by alcohol, and when people get it after binging it has been called "holiday heart." it usually occurs after larger doses of alcohol, and would indicate drinking at unsafe levels. Safe levels are less than 7 drinks per week in women, and no more than 3 drinks on any drinking occasion. If you drink more than this, talk to md.See 1 more doctor answer
Yes: Heart flutter can mean almost anything to different people. I have had patients note "palpitations" or "gurgling" in their chest from a hiatal hernai and I have also had patients with proven severe erosive esophagitis develop symptomatic arrhythmias (apc, vpc and paf) which resolved with treatment of their reflux. So "heart flutters" may or may not be causally associated with reflux/hiatal hernias.See 1 more doctor answer
Flutter: I read your question as "i only feel my heart flutter at rest". There are many causes of what you may be feeling, but most likely these are benign "skipped beats" most people have them, some people feel them and then only at certain times. Classic is rest, coming home after a busy day and sitting down, or lying down in bed. Discuss with your doctor :-).See 1 more doctor answer
Not necessarily: Fluttering in the chest, depending on one's sensitivity, may reflect some irregularity in the heart rhythm. Those may be normal for any given person, but indeed may be a harbinger of something more serious. Discussing this with your doctor will allow your doctor to get some tests (ecg, holter or event monitor, possibly an echocardiogram and/or stress test, and blood work) to sort this out.See 1 more doctor answer
See Below: Because in young people flutter or atrial fibrillation could be activated by the structure in the right atrium and at the superior aspect of the inferior vena cava and yawning is usually a symptom of vagal tone and may lead to arrythmias through the same process. Cold drinks with ice can lead to acute atrial fibrillation through the same process.See 1 more doctor answer
