What can you do if you witness someone have a heart attack and stop breathing?

What can you do if you witness someone have a heart attack and stop breathing?

Call 911: If you know CPR start it after calling 911. If there is an automatic defibrillator nearby send someone to get it or get it yourself. This will talk you through what to do. Even if you don't know cpr, doing chest compressions quickly (about 100 per minute) until help arrives may save someone's life. Better yet, learn CPR and take refresher courses every 2 years. ...Read more

Lately when i try to go to sleep i feel like my heart is going to stop or im gonna stop breathing, like im having a heartattack is it a heart attack, or panic attack ? I have had them before just sitting around the house but never when im going to sleep

You : You may be experiencing panic attacks. Panic attacks usually last ten minutes or less. Some possible symptoms which might make you think you are having a panic attack include: chest pain or chest tightness; a pounding or rapid heartbeat, rapid or difficult breathing, nausea, sweating or numbness / tingling in your lips or fingers/ toes. People often believe that they are having a heart attack during an episode of panic. Other symptoms can include feeling very afraid and / or anxious; trembling, feeling really hot or cold or feeling dizzy or faint. If a person wakes up in the middle of the night gasping for air then they might be experiencing sleep apnea. I can not diagnose you. You should see your doctor for a full medical evaluation, to ensure that these symptoms are not due to a medical condition. If you do in fact have panic attacks, there are medications which can be prescribed to help and you can also see a psychologist to learn ways to control or prevent these symptoms that do not require medications. Good luck. ...Read more

Need to check heart: Any person with a history of bad heart disease, who now gets breathing symptoms or anything else that could be a heart attack symptom, has to go to his doctor or the E.R. To be checked right away for a heart attack. That means not waiting at home to see if it turns into a bad heart attack. There will be some false alarms, but as the saying goes, "better safe than sorry". ...Read more

Is having pain in your neck shoulder chest and down your arm called having a heart attack even if its only mild breathing difficulties?

Very concerning: The symptoms you describe including shortness of breath are very concerning for angina. Angina is pain or other symptoms that are related to the heart needing more oxygen. Not everybody has the same symptoms, and some people, like diabetics and women may have no symptoms or even what they think is indigestion. Who ever is having these symptoms needs to see a cardiologist to see if its the heart. ...Read more

I feel physical pain like I'm being electrocuted during sleep paralysis. I feel I'm not breathing/heart attack & I will die. I'm scared to go to sleep?

Anxiety issues?: The pattern of symptoms & the timing does not seem to make sense with any organic condition that I am aware of. Sleep paralysis should not cause pain. I think there's some type of phobia or irrational / subconscious fear leading to bedtime anxiety. I think you should see a counselor or at least talk to someone who you are close to about your problems. Do you have a family doctor or use HT Prime? ...Read more

Hello. I'm a 32 year old female. I have COPD so I usually have some chest pain at times and difficulty breathing... Currently I'm have a continuous ache in my arm and I've been extremely tired. Should I be concerned about a heart attack?

Must call the doctor: A person with left shoulder or left arm pain without a good reason or explanation should go to her doctor or the E.R. to be checked for a heart attack. That means not waiting at home to see if it becomes a bad heart attack. It could turn out to be a lung problem, a bone or muscle problem, or an acid reflux problem, but the heart attack can kill people. As the saying goes, 'better safe than sorry.' ...Read more

I'm scared I might be having a heart attack my left arm went numb heart palpitations troubled breathing what to do? I am known to have panic attacks

Palpitations: Although these can be signs, it is very rare for someone your age to have a heart attack. The same signs occur with panic attacks. Based on your history, you have had similar episodes before, so you probably had a cardiac work-up in the past. Were previous tests normal when you felt like this? Call a doctor who knows you well for a safe and accurate assessment and a plan for recurrences. ...Read more

Not your heart: There are probably one thousand other possibilities than a heart attack. As stated earlier these are the signs of fatigue and stress. We commonly call them panic attacks. They are real but they are not dangerous. What is going on in your life that is leading to your body telling you to stop and pay some attention? ...Read more

How to stop a heart attack and how do u stop it?

There are various ways to do this, some may or may not work and some are more definitive at least for the shortterm, like stents and bypass surgery. Basically, take 4 Aspirin and get to the ER or call 911 if you think you or someone else is having a heart attack. ...Read more
