Myocardial Infarction means some of the heart muscle dies because of insufficient oxygen supply. Most often this occurs because the coronary artery is blocked by plaque & clot. Other causes include tears in the artery wall, extremely high oxygen demand (eg, rapid arrhythmia, heart valve disorder, or severe systemic illness.) Prompt treatment can minimize heart damage & ...Read more
My pulse was at 77 and it shot up to 150 after a cigarette and it wasn't coming down is that normal? I thought i was heart attack bound
Nicotine stimulation: Cigarette smoking is a stress on heart and lungs which are acting as a circulation and oxygenation unit for the body. Nerves are stimulated by the chemicals inhaled and oxygen is deprived with smoke and such response is a heralding sign of early cardiac dysfunction. Please get a stress test for your heart. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If my pulse is normal, does that mean i'm probably not having a heart attack? Can't tell if reflux, anxiety or heart.
When I sleep at night I feel my heart is pumping very fast but my pulse is 85 bpm. I feel like I am going to have an heart attack but don't have pain.
Can lots of gas/indegistion be similar to heart attack? Like pain under left breast/heart beat under breast bone or maybe its my pulse. Any advice?
If someone's having a heart attack. Wouldn't their blood pressure and pulse be low or they would have another prominent symptom right?
If someone is having a heart attack. Would the pulse oximeter show an oxygen sat level below normal range?
Not necessarily: If the heart attack is huge, the heart will not pump effectively and blood will not circulate normally, causing a low oxygen saturation. More commonly, the heart attack will be smaller and the heart will continue to pump effectively enough to get blood to the lungs and then to the body, keeping the oxygen saturation normal. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
If i'm otherwise healthy and BP usually normal at rest, but pulse and BP get very high during anxiety or stress can it cause stroke or heart attack?
Good reason for Tx: In an otherwise healthy guy w/out BP problems i think it would be unlikely to result in stroke or heart attack, but not guaranteed, so.... Why not talk to a therapist to discover ways to deal w/ or avoid stress? It can really help. But find one you like and trust. I'd think it may be more helpful than pills in mild or moderate conditions. Meditation is also great to reduce stress. Best! ...Read more

Hello. : Hello. Well, first off; although 25% of heart attacks can be "silent", yours was not. You had classic heart attack symptoms. If this ever happens again, it is absolutely imperative that you call 911. It sounds like you made it through this heart attack, but that doesn't mean that you will survive or not be crippled by a subsequent heart attack. There are free or sliding scales clinics through out the us. I suggest you research the clinics in your area. In the meantime, if you are a smoker - suggest that you quit. There is no simple way around the matter, you needs to obtain medical follow up. Take care. ...Read more

Since I was put on Prednisone 3 days ago I have bouts of my whole body pulsing my head feels like it explode i am scared I will have a heart attack ?
Prednisone: Prednisone can certainly have the side effects you describe. It will not cause you to have a heart attack. It makes some people feel very nervous, like they can't sit still or they are shaking inside yet when they look at their hands they are not shaking. I would talk to the physician who gave you this medicine to make sure you need it, but do not stop it on your own. ...Read more
Taking Xanax (alprazolam) 4 emergency panics. B/p & pulse go pretty high, when having worrisome thoughts. Am i at risk for stroke/heart attack? Shud i see dr. 4 blood pressure? Seems when i'm calm it's normal b/p.
Yes: Sympathetic nervous system activation and the hpa axis are consistent with panic, as well as elevated blood pressure, reduced digestion, tingling on the skin surface, changes in pupils, etc., which pass after the panic. It still is a good idea to see your doctor about this and consider individual therapy rather than just using xanax (alprazolam). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
