If middle ear fluid: persists between bouts of otitis media, middle ear infection, it can cause some conductive hearing loss, but not persistent Expressive Language Delay after it clears spontaneously or by surgery. He needs an ENT exam, an accurate hearing test & developmental evaluation by CA's Early Intervention Program. Possibly: A psychiatrist might make those med recommendations after 3 months of treatment. Zoloft (sertraline) generally helps with anxiety and depression. Ritalin can make concentration better in a properly diagnosed add patient but it may make anxiety worse. ...Read more

Aside from inherited defects, the most common cause of loss is frequent unprotected exposure to loud noise. Do you have tinnitus (ringing) which is a sign of sensitivity.
