Health Benefits Of An Msm Glucosamine Chondroitin Complex
Lack of evidence: There is no hard conclusive evidence that they work. Anecdotes do not count. However, if the diagnosis is osteoarthritis, especially of the knee or shoulder, i usually have patients give glucosamine a three month trial as glucosamine is very safe (unless shellfish allergy). If it does work, it works within three months. Less problems than with prescription medications. ...Read more

Are there any interactions between nutritional supplements like a good multivitamin, fish oils, calcium/magnesium, or joint support like glucosamine?
Of course, complex &: controls are internal but only partially understood. As Soul?Mind?Brain?Body creatures, not invented by MDs, issues only partially understood. Thus people promote importance of simple external things they can sell, often without consideration of individual situation or any relevant double-blind, prospective placebo controlled clinical trial data. Why? Because trials are expensive & might backfire? ...Read more
Is there any good evidence for taking nutritonal supplements of collagen hydrolysate for joint pain ?
Not great evidence: There is only moderate evidence by our academy that recommends 1500mg glucosamine with 1200mg chondroitin taken twice daily that may help with joint pain. I would take it for one month to see if you feel it is efficacious. If you feel it's helping, keep taking it. If you feel it doesn't help you, stop taking it because its just a waste of your money. I'm not aware of any other dietary supplements. ...Read more

Is Whey Protein supplements & glutamine supplement safe for gout users?
None will effect gou: Gout is related to URIC ACID and PURINES, not amino acids or protein supplements. BUT, since everything you mention is a complete waste of money, why bother to ask? There are meds used to control gout in different ways. Low dose aspirin and thiazide diuretics tend to raise uric acid levels. Alcohol, especially in large amounts, often causes attacks. Low purine diets are slightly effective. ...Read more

Anti-oxidants such as green tea extraqct, grapeseed extract may also help, but if you truly have ra, you will sustainm progressive joint damage with time, if you are not taking remitting agents! see someone in rheumatology! ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
