My 4 year old got sunburn yesterday also a headache. Have him neurofen for children. Do i need to take him to local doctor today?

Depends: You probably should especially if there is any areas of blistering. Be aware that sunburn in children greatly increases the chances of skin cancer later in life. Use abundant protective creams that contain zinc oxide (makes it look white) to help prevent this from happening and limit exposure to a reasonable amount. Also don't forget eye protection. ...Read more

4 year old woke up with headache. But quickly said it was gone - one time thing. Should i be worried?

I wouldn't: At 4 yo i'm not sure what they classify as a headache. Yet if it is gone, why worry ? I don't see the pattern as worrisome. ...Read more

Hello my 4 year old son has a fever with a headache now for 3 days. He looks dehydrated, dr gave him fever reducer but does nothing what is this?

Confusing question: Does he look dehydrated to you or the physician?Has he seen the physician today? Has he urinated in the past 6 hours? If he has not urinated in 8 hours & looks dehydrated he should see the physician today for an evaluation. I hospitalize kids for IV fluids if they are dehydrated. ...Read more

My 4 year old son has had daily headaches for the past three days. What could be causing this? No fever or any other symptoms just a strong pain. He points to his forehead and covers his eyes. the first time he even said he couldn't see.

My 4 year old son has had daily headaches for the past three days. What could be causing this?
No fever or any other symptoms just a strong pain. He points to his forehead and covers his eyes. the first time he even said he couldn't see.

Virus or vision: Hi, Oscar.
Like most symptoms in kids, the tincture of time is critical. Daily headache for 3 days could be something as simple as a virus (any number of viruses cause nonspecific symptoms like headaches), sinus congestion, or even be a vision problem (like he needs glasses). Give it time to declare itself and if he's still having daily headaches in 2 weeks take him in to the doctor. ...Read more

Bad headaches i get really bad headaches to the point where playing with my 4 yr old is a problem for me.....Is it serious

Hi. : Hi. The information you have provided is not detailed enough to give very helpful information. There are many types of headaches and many different causes. If you keep getting the headaches and they hurt enough to impact your function, i would ask your parents to bring you to your family doctor. The doctor can assess what type of headaches they are. He or she can let you know if is serious and options for helping to get rid of the pain. Take care. ...Read more

4yr old. With fever and headache. No cough or mucus?

Many thoughts: A 4 year old with fever and headache can have a mild illness or a severe illness. I first think of strep throat or viral sore throat. Then i think of pneumonia, viral infection, and then the big ones, meningitis and such. I would like to know if s/he is better after some Ibuprofen or acetamenophen? Rash? Sore throat? Enlarged nodes? Eating or drinking? If in doubt, see your pcp! ...Read more

My 4yr old has had a headache most of the day. Tylenol (acetaminophen) wares off in 5hrs. Had a fever 2days ago. Should i be concerned?

Headaches in Kids: I tell families to believe what they see from a young child, not what they hear. A child who complains of headache but remains playful/active is fine. If she's laying in bed all day with the lights off or has other symptoms with the headache (the fever two days ago would be less concerning than a fever now) then calling her doctor and discussing the symptoms with him is warranted. ...Read more
