Headaches are: unusual for stroke but tingling/numbness on one side of the head is definitely suspect. Though there are other things that could cause numbness tingling, such as atypical migraine or neuralgia/ facial nerve paralysis. I might keep a careful diary of timing of these symptoms and explore why you feel like it is related to food. Comments: Truthfully, due to bad anticholinergic side effects, I no longer use amitryptyline in any of my patients. Would prefer OTC items, such as riboflavin, butterbur, CoQ-10 magnesium or feverfew. Most neurologists can help with this. If it must be prescription, choose Depakote or Topamax (topiramate). Be diligent: Be persistent and be honest with your Dr. Ask why they are not referring you or at least getting a brain scan to assure there is no underlying "pathology" to be seen.
