I have a GI tract virus? How long does it last? I felt like dying while i'm fine one day the next day i'm not and I have headache

It depends: On how long the symptoms have been going on for already and other symptoms you are having such as diarrhea, vomiting, or fever. Viral infections can wax and wane and can last 7-10 days in some instances but it is not typical for you to have dramatic changes in symptoms from one day to the next. You should talk to your doctor. ...Read more

Hi i have had a resting hr of 155+ i have recently suffered from a virus and have had dizziness lightheadness headaches possible for me to have POTS?

Possibly: POTS is only one possiblity for a fast resting heart rate. My suspicion would be more towards dehydration from your recent illness as the main culprit without my knowing any other information. The best step would be to see your PCP sooner rather than later to investigate all possibilities. ...Read more

5 days ago I was sick with a stomach virus. Now all I do is stay nauseous and have headaches. I can barely eat without feeling sick.

Nausea: you likely have residual inflammation in your stomach from the infection along with dehydration and maybe electrolyte imbalance. You should stay hydrated and eat things that are gentle on your stomach: coconut water, non-tomato soup broth, non-citrus fruits, etc. also eat smaller meals and eat slowly. ...Read more

I have had a headache for a week and a half behind my eyes.. I have sinus congestion but no drainage or fever. Is this caused by a virus?

I have had a headache for a week and a half behind my eyes.. I have sinus congestion but no drainage or fever. Is this caused by a virus?

Maybe: Your headache very likely is a consequence of your sinus congestion, even without drainage. It can be from allergic reaction to inhaled allergen like pollen, a viral infection or even a bacterial infection. However, you may be right that this is not from a bacterial infection as you are not systemically sicker (fever, chills, swelling around the facial area). Try otc anti-allergy/decongestant. ...Read more

Could be: The low grade fever and diarrhea may be a sign of a viral gastrointestinal infection. Maintain your fluid intake, eat yogurt, take OTC antidiarrheals like Kaopectate (kaolin and pectin) or peptobismol and ride it out. It should resolve soon. I have been vomiting the majority of my food for the past two weeks no fever headaches or anything doctor think I might have a virus is this correct ?

Time to check again: Two weeks is a long time to be vomiting. It's time to see your doctor again. If you do not have fever or abdominal pain that's good, but you do need to be evaluated again. I suggest going on a clear liquids diet (water, ginger ale, light broth, no dairy) and make that appointment for follow up. ...Read more

Herpes: The forehead lesion could be early shingles(herpes zoster). See your physician as soon as possible as antiviral treatment may be needed and precautions necessary for potential eye involvement. Routine herpes simplex(cold sores) of the lip area is less serious potentially. See your physician even it if turns out to be a false alarm. ...Read more

I came down with a virus - headaches & nausea + very weak. Saw my doctor today and he gave me a vitamin B12 injection. Curious as to why? (I do feel better now)

Boosts metabolism: we have known for decades that people feel more energetic after an injection of B12, but many doctors have pooh-poohed it. We are finally discovering how B12 helps boost energy production by the mitochondria, and is a vital treatment for mitochondrial disease. The immune system fighting off a virus requires a huge amount of energy and a B12 injection of 1000 units most frequently helps. It is safe. ...Read more

I'm on my 10th stomach virus this year and have had every GI test imaginable done with clear results. My only other symptoms are headaches and low WBCs (2.8 to 4). Where do I go now?

Persistent GI prob: Sometimes it is hard to find an answer. Assuming your GI eval did everything, including endoscopy and test for Gluten entropathy, your doctor may consider other causes like CNS issues, like abdominal migraines and abdominal seizures and have you seen by a neurologist. Other thought is to consider environmental toxins like carbon monoxide, etc. ...Read more

I am having the late stages symptoms of HIV and I have done several test and tested negative for the virus but what I have read on the Internet and the symptoms I am having all of them my nails Are changing my hands are cold by muscles wasting headaches

See a doctor: HIV can cause very general symptoms, but it is very unlikely that you have the virus if the test is repeatedly negative. See a doctor and let them know your symptoms - you may need to be evaluated for other viral infections like Hepatitis B/C, thyroid disease, autoimmune disease, cancers, etc. This will depend on your age, health, and physical exam. Leave google alone for now and ask an expert. ...Read more

Yes, it does sound: like a virus. However, it would be a good idea to have him seen by his doctor again to check the rash and re-check his lungs, just to be sure there isn't anything else going on that might need different treatment. Hope he feels better soon. ...Read more
