No simple answer: The most common cause of achy pain around the eye that I see, comes from irritation of some nerves in the upper neck near the base of the skull. When they are irritated, there may be a tender spot to pressure over them in the neck but the body may be most aware of the pain felt around and behind the eye - called referred pain. Sometimes, I have occipital headache + eye pain upon waking/upon watching television, is that normal? The pain goes away after taking painrelievers.

Not normal or ideal: Ideally if it were up to me no one would have headaches or eye pain. There are many causes that are possible, although in your case eye strain first springs to mind. Therefore, you should see an eye doctor also called an Opthamologist and also see a Neurologist for a thorough evaluation and examination which will likely include a MRI, for further evaluation of the headaches. Do keep us posted. ...Read more

If the headache is accompanied by other symptoms (tinnitus, difficulty concentrating, irritability) then you might have post-concussion syndrome. Improvement in symptoms is based on many factors including severity and location of the concussion. See a neurologist for evaluation. Http://www. Webmd. Com/brain/post-concussion-syndrome ...Read more
