Tick bite continue to itch 4 mos after bite...took doxycillin immed after bite "just in case." No other symptoms, no evid of tick borne illnesses or cellulitis. Piece of tick still under the skin?
Good question.: No risk for tick borne illness here. Is there any type of rash at the wound site? An embedded part of the tick would fester a little under the skin and may become a little red and painful until the skin pushes it out or it's broken down. If you have been washing it over and over or scratching it I'd say eczema, neurodermatitis or scabies it possible without any other rash or lesions. See doc. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Rabies transmission: Per the Centers for Disease Control: The most common mode of rabies virus transmission is through the bite and virus-containing saliva of an infected host. Without puncture, your risk is exceedingly low. ...Read more
Can you get rabies if a vaccinated dog scratches a rabid animal and then hours later scratches you and draws blood? I've been having symptoms
Yes, but...: A tetanus shot prevents only the bad effects of a tetanus infection. The shot does not prevent an infection from the other bacteria that animals carry in their mouths. Thus, if an animal bites through one's skin, a doctor can evaluate to see what treatment may be needed. Be sure the animal is one who does not, or is not likely, to carry rabies (because rabies is fatal). ...Read more

Neighbor's dog had fleas, then got distemper virus. Neighbor began having bone/nerve pain after flea issue. Do fleas spread this virus? Is he crazy?
I cannot comment: On whether your neighbor is crazy or not but fleas can bite humans and those bites can become infected which can sometimes lead to a more systemic spread of the infection or response to it so he should see his physician. Fleas carry diseases as well that can infect humans but not distemper. ...Read more

VERY small dog bite by vaccinated pet Friday PM. Tiny bite is fine.Saturday low grade fever, chills, muscle aches, tight chest feeling. Related? Flu?
Normal response: When our bodies sustain an injury, the immediate response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling). This is the body increasing the blood flow to the injury to bring healing factors to the area and also the veins expand to carry bad stuff away. The key is to do things that reduce the parts of inflammation such as ice, compression, elevation and antiinflamamtory medications in the first 24hrs. ...Read more
