I have a headache after having severe diarrhea yesterday. Is it ok to take Advil (ibuprofen) or will it upset my system?

I have a headache after having severe diarrhea yesterday. Is it ok to take Advil (ibuprofen) or will it upset my system?

Dehydration: Try drinking a lot of water and taking some soup or broth. That will help resolve your headache because most likely it's due to dehydration. Sometimes a virus can cause a headache and diarrheal type illness but I would try REHYDRATING first. I think that will get you some relief! Advil (ibuprofen) or Motrin could be damaging to the kidneys in a dehydrated state-so that's another reason I would want hydration ...Read more

This is third night I've developed a headache, then stomach cramps that lead to loose stools. I feel fine til evening. A 'bug' should last all day so?

Yes but????: This is only happening in the evenings. Are you at work during the day? Could something in your environment be causing this? These are all things to look into and if symptoms persist, you definitely need to see a doctor for evaluation ...Read more

Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate): Greetings. Amox/clav is a great antibiotic for infections in the head and neck but one side effect is the potential for diarrhea. Doctor can evaluate: Typical mosquitos and household spiders in the U.S. Don't cause big symptoms. Diarrhea, light headed, head ache & hot flashes. Could I b dehydrated. Or vitamin C interaction from 1 tablet last night? Didn't eat much today...

Certainly could be: Dehydration is always a concern with diarrhea and would be the most likely explanation for developing light-headedness after/with a period of diarrhea. The headache and heat intolerance may be related as well but are less likely to improve simply with hydration. The vitamin C is not a likely cause here. Drinking plenty of fluids, water, sports drinks, thin soup/broth, will be important. ...Read more
