What are some effective exercises that don't involve bending your spine? I get headaches from cobra, etc

Get evaluation: If cobra pose and other extension biased exercises give you headaches, it's possible you have arthritis of the spine, specifically the c2-3 facet joint. I recommend having this evaluated and treated so that you can move your neck freely without pain. The best speciality to diagnose and treat the problem is a pain medicine specialist. Treatment does not involve surgery in the traditional sense.

Positional headache: May be due to sinus disease, HTN, colloid cyst of the 3rd ventrical and CNS tumors as well as pseudo tumor. Need more information to narrow this down. I'd have this looked into as the most benign of conditions (blocked sinuses) obviates some sort of intervention.

Botox and Surgery: Long term relief of migraines can be achieved with botox. If you have a good response, you may be a candidate for surgery. Surgery has been shown to dramatically decrease the frequency and intensity of migraines. Www. Themigrainereliefcenter. Com.

? occipital neuralgia: You may have a trigger over right side of neck, but there may be irritation at base of skull affecting the greater occipital nerve of Arnold. This should be self-limited and resolve over next few days to weeks, but if persistent, might consider occipital nerve block injection.

Why do I get a headache and my head turn red after bending over?

Why do I get a headache and my head turn red after bending over?

Abdominal Pressure: Bending at the waist increases intra-abdominal pressure causing venous return to the heart to decrease. This backs up the blood being pumped from the heart to the periphery which for your upper body is your head. Increasing venous pressure causes increased pressure in the head which leads to that headache. That's also why your face turns red. Same thing from a valsalva maneuver.

Headache for 1 week when bending down and standing. Went to neuro, sent to ophthalmologist, diagnosis pseudopapilledema. What further tests?

Headache for 1 week when bending down and standing. Went to neuro, sent to ophthalmologist, diagnosis pseudopapilledema. What further tests?

Usually benign: Pseudopapilledema, or optic disc drusen as it is also known, is optic disc swelling that simulates some features of papilledema (caused by increased intracranial pressure) but is secondary to an underlying, usually benign, process. Extensive workup is usually not necessary but the headache should be further evaluated. For more info see: http://emedicine. Medscape. Com/article/1217393-overview
