Several thoughts:: "Tension Headaches" are the most common headache. They usually, but not always, occur in the posterior part of the head. Much less common is Temporal (Giant Cell) Arteritis. This is a form of vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels) affecting branches of carotid artery.

Headache diary: It sounds like a headache diary might be a good idea for you. Start keeping a log of the times you get your headaches, the type, location and severity of the pain and what was happening right before it started. Left face pain: This sounds like TMJ pain, which is most commonly caused by bruxism (chronic teeth grinding and/or clenching) when asleep, and which can cause headaches, migraines, face, jaw, head and ear pain.
However, there are many other possibilities which can only be ruled in or out by having a complete clinical exam.

First,: First, you should go to health services and have them check your blood pressure since your pulses seem unusually strong to you. The other thing you should do is to make an appointment with your dentist. You may be grinding your teeth at night and experiencing temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction. The TMJ is the joint between the mandible (jawbone) and the temporal bone just in front of the ear. The pain would radiate from inflamed tmj's to the temples and the jaws. Your dentist may recommend a bite block to wear at night.
You are smart to limit salt and to try to lose weight.
