Head Neck Motion Pain
Hello, about an hour ago I run across the beach and dived in the ocean, I hit the top of my head but didn't hear any breaks around the neck and head area. But as time has gone on my neck is beginning to hurt, but I have full motion.
Doing sport fell hard on the neck, 1wk post accident I couldn't look down & tilted my head to one side was painful, 2 wk range of motion was back. Now it's 4 wk and the strength is 70% back but still weak though. Is this recovery speed normal?
Possibly normal: Trauma to the neck can produce injury to the neck muscles and the neck vertebrae. It sounds like your situation is muscular. A good idea is for your physician to send you to a physical therapist for an evaluation and treatment to strengthen the injured area. Four yrs. Post acdf c-5-6/6-7 can't look up, head check while driving, or use a PC due to neck pain and lack of range of motion, normal, permanent?
Not normal: After an acdf at those levels, you would have slightly decreased range of motion- but more with moving your head up and down. The majority of rotation comes from the higher cervical vertebra. Dissection is a --: -sudden onset, in Ur age group usually following significant trauma 2 the neck, as in MVA high speed. It is severely painful. U need 2 C a neurologist 4 eval. 2 find the cause. 1 of the facial nerve branches may B the cause.as this sounds like a Bells palsy. It usually is also painful& there is a muscle weakness involved. It could be neck muscle tension, sinusitis (see my answer relating to referred pain), migraine, tension ha...If associated with sore throat and fever, meningitis. Uncertain: Is this a chronic problem? If you just woke up this way - it may be related to how you were positioned when you slept. This can't be diagnosed with the information that is available. Need more info: There can be many causes of severe head and neck pain. As such, these symptoms should be evaluated thoroughly by your primary care physician, neurologist or physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist to identify the cause.
