Head Lice Treatment For Adults
Depends: There are various treatments for head lice, mostly with different types of insecticides. It is always important to follow the instructions of the medicine you were prescribed in order to optimize your results and to avoid potential side effects. Some compounds are derived from chrysanthemums, namely permethrin. If you are allergic to the flowers, have asthma or a pregnant discuss this with md.
Shampoo: The treatment for lice is usually a very strong shampoo that you then rinse out and comb out the nits/lice. I am not clear from your question what you used. Many people use olive oil and a shower cap over night rather than the rid shampoo because rid is so strong. Basically, shampoo your hair and do not reapply the rid or whichever brand you used for at least a week.
Cetaphil cleanser: Use gentle cetaphil skin cleanser. Apply to hair and scalp. Wait 2 minutes, then comb out. Wash your hair 8 hours later. Repeat once a week for 3 weeks. You can hold the mayo!See 2 more doctor answers
Lice, Head: Do pronto and r&c ring a bell? The goal of tretament of head lice is to eliminate lice and eggs. Treatment should be repeated in 7-10 days (the time needed for the eggs to hatch) because nits are less effectively killed than adults. Aavailable otc medications include nix, (permethrin) rid, a2000. For prescription medications, consult your doctor.
I'm having a weird feeling with my head. Everything feels like it's moving and I'm getting a popping sensation everytime I touch my head. My mother already did the lice treatment on me, but nothing came out, nits or anything. What can this be and how do I
Sensory issues?: I did not hear you mention "itching" as a problem here, lice always cause itching. "Weird" and "popping" are complaints I have never heard in 20 years of medical practice. I would have an exam by a physician to investigate cause here. Have you had a contact with lice? Is anxiety an issue of yours? Do you have a dry scalp or dandruff? What are you most worried about?
Thorough de-lousing!: With head lice, wash the hair with shampoo containg lice killing medication, usually malathion. That should kill lice but not all the eggs (nits). Wash all bedding and clothing with hot water & detergent to kill lice/eggs. Comb hair with nit comb twice daily for two weeks to prevent recurrence. Nix (permethrin) or Rid: I'd start with a basic otc product like nix (permethrin) cream rinse or rid. Used as directed, they are generally effective when used in conjunction with daily combing with a nit comb. You don't need to fumigate your home, but I would clean brush/comb with boiling water, wash and dry bedding/ clothing (hot dryer). Items that can't be launder and dried on hot should go into a bag for 2 weeks. Good luck.
I just found out I caught head lice, they are just about gone I have to do anothet treatment this sunday comming is it ok to still dye my hair?
Head lice: Actually dying your hair is one way to keep head lice away. Lice will not affect dyed hair. Let your beautician know so they can take appropriate precaution. If it is at home, no issue.
Medication: There are medications available including otc that appear safe and are effective. Some old home r5emedies do not work and can be dangerous.See 1 more doctor answer

After treatment of head lice with Hedrin I am still finding between 10 and 20 seemingly new hatched lice 24 hours after. They appear dead. Normal?
Yes: According to the hedrin website- one of the active ingredients paralyzes the lice and so they likely look dead- The maker also recommends that the procedure be repeated in 7 days for eggs that hatched since the first application and also say that if it looks like there is a re-infection that you can use the treatment again Try to find the source of the infection and good luck!

Yes, but: The concentration of the is about 5 times the concentration needed for the lice. It is basically a bug spray in lotion form. You would be taking a bazooka to kill a rat, it would likely work but is a bit excessive..
Can rid lice treatment cause perminate hair thinning/ hair loss? My three year old and I have experianced difuse hair loss shortly after using Rid. I left my treatment on longer then 10 minutes and my head was tingly for 3 weeks.
Hair loss: Your dermatologist can evaluate and analyze your hair loss and can determine whether it is only temporary or permanent.
Can lice shampoo if left on to long cause perminate hair thinning and hair loss? On a 26 year old and a 3 year old little girl? My whole head of hair is damaged after using lice treatment and straightening my hair the next day.
THINK: Hair straightening is notorious for damaging hair. The hair becomes brittle and breaks off. It will still grow back. If you must use a "relaxer" be very careful.
