Diet, exercise: And weight reduction. Avoid red meat and dairy products. If numbers don't improve, strongly consider medication - statin for lipids and even metformin for glucose if it continues to increase over time. Check an a1c and talk w/your doctor. My mom 69 yrs old suffering from diabeties n oestioporosis.. had a blood test that showed... high HDL, creatine 3, and uric acid 4. What to do?

Not creatine: Hi. We don't measure creatine. I bet it was her creatinine that was 3, in which case they will prepare her for dialysis. Her kidneys are failing. High HDL is not associated with risk; do you mean high LDL? She needs a statin regardless...the cause of death in kidney failure is heart attack (as long as they don't quit going to dialysis). Fasting blood test. HDL/LDL good. Triglycerides high at 290. Can Paxil (paroxetine) or Xanax increase this reading? Cause for worry?

Not likely: But alcohol taken up to 3-5 days prior to triglyceride test can increase the result, At age 31, i would not worry. Do exercise, loose a few pounds, abstain from alcohol 3-5 days before test and repeat it. ...Read more
