In short, yes: Dropping HCG levels mean an abnormal pregnancy if they are measured during the early weeks of pregnancy, this does not hold true if measured later in pregnancy when levels can drop and be normal. Your doc should: Also do a Progesterone level to see if it is normal range for a preg greater than 10 is normal greater than 20 is good 5 or less is bad and they can do another bhcg as the bhcg should double in 3 days and when u are 6 1/2 -7 weeks gestation should be able to see a htbeat if u have a viable pregmnancy. ...Read more
Probably: The only thing about an HCG level is that the absolute number isn't the most important thing. Usually the lab is repeated after 48 hours at least once to determine if the level is increasing appropriately. It should double every 48 hours but can still be normal is it goes up less than that. ...Read more
