My wife tested today for HCG after our IVF 2.8 was her beat on day 13 past 3 day transfer.......is it even possible for this to end well?
Probably not...: Given that it's essentially 31 days after "LMP" (15+3+13), bhcg should be detectable by urine pregnancy test (which usually has threshold of 25) so if the HCG is 2.8, this cycle may not have been successful. You should discuss with your REI doc - see if there's any other reason and also planning for future cycle (s) ...Read more
I had two embryo transfers (day 3) on 21st april. On 2nd may my hcg was 209 and on 4th may it was 211. Clearly it didn't double, what's going on?
Embryos stop growing: When hCG fails to double in 48 h after the first pregnancy test, it usually means that the embryo failed to develop. It is called chemical pregnancy. It could be due to abnormal embryo, or uterine enviroment not suitable for embryo development. Please be ready to try again, you are very young, and your chance of success is excellent! ...Read more

Ivf beta hCG numbers 1st 12 days post 5 day transfer 1st went 61, 48hours later went 95, 48hours later went back 73, 48 later went up 108 isit normal?
Unfortunately not: Your HCG levels do not sound like they can be consistent with a healthy pregnancy, particularly an ivf pregnancy when we know exactly how far along you are. Most likely this is a biochemical pregnancy (very early miscarriage) or there is a small chance of ectopic pregnancy. You'll want your doctor to monitor you closely until the situation is more clear. Sorry, and good luck going forward! ...Read more
No: There is no specific initial HCG level that is considered normal. Most reproductive endocrinologists like a level of 50 or more miu/ml. Most importantly HCG repeated 2-3 days latter should double, in your case 130-140miu/ml. Best whishes. ...Read more

Hormone: The pregnancy test commonly referred to as HCG is actually a measure of the beta subunit of the HCG molecule, so you may hear it referred to as beta hcg, hcg, or beta and they are the same test. I think you may be mistaken on the second test-- the result seems more consistent with a Progesterone level. ...Read more

HCG levels: In pregnancy HCG is expected to approx. Double every 48 hours. Abnormal rise could be due to several factors such as abnormal pregnancy or ectopic pregnancy. It is important to also check and see if all tests were performed at the same lab. Ectopic pregnancy possibility should always be considered as it can lead to severe complications. First, it certainly means you are pregnant.
I suspect that number seems high and multiple pregnancies raise HCG, so, I suspect multiple pregnancies, while more than 3 is theoretically possible, 2 or 3 is what the result will be BUT, in any conception, the risk of very early embryo loss is quite high, so, successful pregnancy likely, multiple is likely
and, you WILL need ultrasound in a few weeks ...Read more
