What is the question: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, Your values are within normal limits. For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. Practice safe sex, if you have sex. ...Read more

Trouble digesting fat: lipase low fasting; no change after lundh meal. Lipase should peak to 5x basal level after meal; i need quantitative ref range.
Incorrect info: Lipase levels do not increase five fold after a meal. Five fold increase would be diagnostic of pancreatitis. How do you know you have trouble digesting fat? It may help to see your doctor and may request a referral to a gastroenterologist. See this site for lipase info. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003465.htm. ...Read more

What r glucose meter levels that would indicate pre-diabetes, fasting, upon waking? & 2 hrs after a meal?
Can't recommend: These rapid weight loss drops are being promoted; I have not heard any physician say they are evidence-based, and the little i've read about their claims makes little sense. It's your money; especially if you crash-diet, be sure you're getting enough nutrients and don't scramble your fluids & electrolytes. ...Read more
To determine if preg: A qualitative HCG test is a fancy name for a pregnancy test. It is either positive or negative. A quantitative HCG test measures the amount of human Chorionic Gonadotropin in your blood, which then reflects the size of the placenta and an idea about how far along the pregnancy is. A negative qualitative HCG will always result in a 0 quantitative HCG result. ...Read more

Its probably safe: It will raise testosterone levels in men. The HCG diet has had side effects, but those are due to rapid weight loss (gall stones) and eating only 500 calories per day, starvation is not a great plan. I doubt the HCG itself causes many or any problems if used in low doses. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Yes: The HCG diet was originally developed by a.T.W. Simeons M.D. During the 1940's -1950's. It has been used all over the world for over 50 years. HCG will stim testes: Hcg, aka human chorionic gonadatropin will stimulate the testicles to make testosterone. It works because part of the HCG molecule is idenitcal to part of the lh molecule. Lh is the normal signal from the brain to the testicles to make more testosterone. The injections are usually given 1 -2 time per week, but can be given in smaller doses daily. ...Read more

However some tumors also produce hcg, so a high level in a man, or in a non-pregnant woman, strongly suggests a tumor that needs to be found and treated as soon as possible. ...Read more
