Doctor insights on: Hcg levels at 6 weeks pregnant
My hCG level was 13500 at 6 weeks pregnant. They said I am super pregnant. Is this normal or could I be having twins?
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
What causes late rising HCG levels? I mean I was 6 weeks pregnant but hCG was 148 then it still going doubling normally every 48 hours. But only sac
Early: An HCG of 148 is very early. As long as it is rising like you describe, it's a good sign. You don't expect to see a sac until the HCG reaches 1500 to 2000, and you won't see an embryo for at least another 1-2 weeks, and then just a small blip on the screen. If you are 6 weeks, though, you would expect to see something. Perhaps you are not as far along as you think. ...Read more

Going the wrong way: Your hCG values are going down and not doubling every two days. This may be a missed abortion (miscarriage) so have your OB MD follow up with additional hCG testing and ultrasound. ...Read more
I am about 6 weeks pregnant. They took hCG levels at for weeks everyother day. These were the numbers: 90 260 640. Is this normal? Good? Bad?
Good for the dates.: Early on in the pregnancy one would like to see the hcg levels double every 48 hours. It is not an exact number but an estimate. Other factors also help the physician determine the health of the pregnancy. From the information given, the numbers appear to be appropriate. Eat well, exercise and get good rest. No alcohol or tobacco. Good luck and take care. ...Read more

My hCG levels have went from 3085 to 2800 & I'm 6 weeks pregnant. No bleeding. How likely is that number to start going back up instead of decreasing?
What did your OB say: Your OB should have already discussed this with you, if the beta went down that is a bad sign and means u have a non viable pregnancy and you should be getting a Progesterone level also to see if it is normal, a low one is bad, your beta should be higher, you need one more to make sure the 2nd one was accuarte and they should be able to at see a sac in uterus at 6 wks and a htbeat at 7 wks. ...Read more

My HCG levels 881, 582, 535, 700, 1000??? Am I still miscarrying??? Levels taken every 48 hrs. And in that order. 6 weeks pregnant and confused.
The progression of your hcg as shown is abnormal. Hcg is supposed to double every 48hours. Now if your pregnancy is indeed 6weeks, the fetal pole should demonstrate fetal heart beat. Please get a pelvic ultrasound to confirm failed or abnormal pregnacy. Please discuss with your gynecologist for a definite care.

6 weeks pregnant and hCG levels rose from 13000 to 21000 and an empty amniotic sac that continues to grow as well, what is going on?
An issue: Most of the time when the HCG is at least 2000 to 5000 an embryo or at least a yolk sac can be seen. Since the sac is empty this might be a miscarriage situation in which the gestational sac is growing but there is no embryo. Speak with your doctors. ...Read more

If my Hcg level are 11563 which mean more than 6 weeks pregnant (on the 10 sept)and my last period was 4 aug. When did I conceive?
Can't tell: A woman's bHCG levels do not have a close enough correlation with the exact day or exact week of her pregnancy, and thus cannot be used to decide when conception was. In general, no woman knows exactly when her natural conception occurred (it is always an estimate, and if she doesn't have very regular periods, it will likely be an estimate determined by ultrasound dating). ...Read more
I'm 6 weeks pregnant, my progesterone was 28.5 and it dropped to 18.9, my hCG levels are normal still, from 221 to 641. Why my progesterone levels dropped? Am I at high risk to loose my baby?
Don't panic: Although the Progesterone drop is a sign of concern in the first trimester, it does not automatically mean you will miscarry, but it does increase the chance. Some OBs would consider placing you on Progesterone therapy to raise your level in hopes of maintaining the pregnancy at least until the placenta is able to take over and produce the needed Progesterone to sustain it. I am 6 weeks pregnant, no heart beat found on intravaginal ultrasound. Baby measures 7mm. HCG levels are good. Should I worry?
Follow up is needed: Normally, if an accurate measurement performed by a certified skilled sonographer is that the embryonic pole is greater than 5-6 mm but cardiac activity can not be detected, there is an increased probability of an "early pregnancy loss". HCG reflects trophoblastic/placental development but not embryonic or fetal condition. A repeat sonogram should help answer your question. ...Read more
