HSG Levels: Hcg levels rise throughout the pregnancy. I assume you are saying 4 weeks 4 days from the last menses. The levels of HCG double approximately every 48 hours. Therefore, the level may be normal. Sometimes a "high" level may indicate multiple pregnancy, getting the dates wrong or a normal pregnancy. I would get an ultrasound at 5 weeks assess the pregnancy. ...Read more

Hcg Level (Definition)

Beta-HCG is a pregnancy hormone. It is expected to double every 2 days in a normal pregnancy. If the level rises too slowly, it may indicate an ectopic pregnancy. If it drops, it usually means ...Read more

Doubling: It's a bit peculiar that your labs were drawn only one day apart. In general we recommend labs to be drawn two days apart and expect your values to double so this is hard to interpret. Most likely it's normal but the only way to be sure is to continue monitoring for a rising trend and an intrauterine pregnant via ultrasound when your value reaches 1500-200miu/ml. Good luck! ...Read more

My hCG level started out at 39 four days later was 140 four days after that was 654 one day after that was 645, does this mean mc?

See below: This is a strange interval for serial HCG measurements. The lack of change in the last two measurements tht are a day apart is concerning. I would recommend a follow up level at 48 hours. ...Read more

I had sex 3 till four days ago I had blood work done for chest pain and it shows my hcg level at 1.2 is this negative?

Not pregnant: Yes, less than 5 is considered negative. Also, if the only time in your cycle that you had sex was 3-4 days ago then it would be too early for you to be pregnant. On a regular 28 day menstrual cycle, you ovulate on cycle day 13-14 but the earliest you would find a positive pregnancy test is on cycle day 26-27. ...Read more

Maybe: Have you lost pregnancies in the past due to a lack of progesterone called a luteal phase defect? You really need to discuss this with your treating OB as he/she have more information upon which to base their decision. ...Read more

My hCG level is 10 it was 10 four weeks ago.. Is this a new pregnancy? I do feel sickly & tired

Probably not: An HCG level this low will usually go to essentially zero without any intervention, such as a d;c. However, it is unusual for the HCG level to stay at 10 for more than a few weeks. Make sure you have a gynecologist following you closely with HCG levels. I have seen one patient recently where it took 10 weeks for such a low level to go to zero. It is unlikely to be a new pregnancy (but not imposs). ...Read more
