What is the risk associated with suppressing fsh/lh when using hCG to increase testosterone in men?

What is the risk associated with suppressing fsh/lh when using hCG to increase testosterone in men?

Minimal: Let's put it this way: using any type of t to replace/fix hypogonadism/andropause will also suppress fsh/lh. But more importantly, taking t will shut down testicular function from lack of fsh/lh. Using HCG to stimulate the testes to produce more t & sperm will result in negative feedback @ pituitary, thus suppress lh/fsh. But at least your testes are functioning fully. It's off-label but it works. ...Read more

Fsh (Definition)

Fsh is a peptide hormone synthesized in the anterior (forward) pituitary gland in both males and females. The name 'follicle stimulating hormone' refers to its role in females, namely to recruit and prepare an oocyte (egg) in the first half of the menstrual cycle leading up to ovulation. Fsh is often measured in blood to test a woman's ovarian ...Read more

Can hCG be used safely long term to treat secondary hypogonadism? It makes my lh/fsh low, is that bad? I feel much better & testosterone is now normal

Can hCG be used safely long term to treat secondary hypogonadism? It makes my lh/fsh low, is that bad? I feel much better & testosterone is now normal

Probably. : I don't believe there are any studies showing that using injection HCG is a problem longterm. Any treatment which increases testosterone will reduce the lh, because testosterone basically turns "off" lh. If it's overly low, you may be able to reduce the HCG dose a bit. You may want to switch to Clomiphene citrate, as it is administered orally and much cheaper. ...Read more

Estradiolo 32, 9 pg/ml fsh 14, 1iu/l testosterone < 0, 1 ng/ml beta hCG <2 mu/ml.Are these values normal for menopause?

Estradiolo 32, 9 pg/ml
fsh 14, 1iu/l
testosterone < 0, 1 ng/ml
beta hCG <2 mu/ml.Are these values normal for menopause?

Not necessarily.: It depends on your age and the situation. Your estrogen is low. Your fsh is not at high as i would expect in full menopause. You are not pregnant, and your testosterone is very low. The units reported vary, and I am at home. This could represent your pituitary not trying hard enough to stimulate your ovaries, or just early in your cycle. If your are 46, you may be perimenopausal. ...Read more

I have 2ndary hypogonadism. If I get treated with hcg, my testosterone goes up but my fsh/lh goes down. What is the harm of long term low fsh/lh?

Need to see a doctor: You need to see the doctor and find out the true cause of 2nday hypogonadism, so there's a proper treatment for it and find out the long term treat with fsh/lh is indicate or not. Proper monitor is necessary if long term treatment needed. ...Read more

No: I may be a little confused about the question, but my answer is 'no.' women who cycle/ovulate have fairly predictable patterns of all of those hormones, women who do not cycle will have a different pattern. ...Read more

Maybe: Yes you may get withdrawal bleeding when you stop Provera (medroxyprogesterone). FSH 30 is a little high - possible early menopause. Several reasons why period may be delayed: stress, thyroid hormone deficiency, excessive weight loss over a short time, strenuous physical activity as in athletes, pregnancy, or menopause. ...Read more

Male-low count (1.2mill), low motility (29%), high FSH (35). Will putting him on Clomid (clomiphene) & hCG help sperm--or stay away from Clomid (clomiphene) bc it raises fsh?

IVF/ICSI: With severe male factor infertility ivf and icsi is the best treatment. Especially here, fsh shows he is going into sperm failure just like women can go into early menopause. So usually there are no good treatments to help except ivf. ...Read more
