What is the risk associated with suppressing fsh/lh when using hCG to increase testosterone in men?
Minimal: Let's put it this way: using any type of t to replace/fix hypogonadism/andropause will also suppress fsh/lh. But more importantly, taking t will shut down testicular function from lack of fsh/lh. Using HCG to stimulate the testes to produce more t & sperm will result in negative feedback @ pituitary, thus suppress lh/fsh. But at least your testes are functioning fully. It's off-label but it works. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Fsh is a peptide hormone synthesized in the anterior (forward) pituitary gland in both males and females. The name 'follicle stimulating hormone' refers to its role in females, namely to recruit and prepare an oocyte (egg) in the first half of the menstrual cycle leading up to ovulation. Fsh is often measured in blood to test a woman's ovarian ...Read more
Can hCG be used safely long term to treat secondary hypogonadism? It makes my lh/fsh low, is that bad? I feel much better & testosterone is now normal
Probably. : I don't believe there are any studies showing that using injection HCG is a problem longterm. Any treatment which increases testosterone will reduce the lh, because testosterone basically turns "off" lh. If it's overly low, you may be able to reduce the HCG dose a bit. You may want to switch to Clomiphene citrate, as it is administered orally and much cheaper. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Morn after pill 25/oct, bled x4 days on 29/oct, period 25/nov. No period since then. Had 5 days of sudden, severe hot flushes, on 24/dec, FSH &hcg neg?
Estradiolo 32, 9 pg/ml
fsh 14, 1iu/l
testosterone < 0, 1 ng/ml
beta hCG <2 mu/ml.Are these values normal for menopause?
Not necessarily.: It depends on your age and the situation. Your estrogen is low. Your fsh is not at high as i would expect in full menopause. You are not pregnant, and your testosterone is very low. The units reported vary, and I am at home. This could represent your pituitary not trying hard enough to stimulate your ovaries, or just early in your cycle. If your are 46, you may be perimenopausal. ...Read more
I have 2ndary hypogonadism. If I get treated with hcg, my testosterone goes up but my fsh/lh goes down. What is the harm of long term low fsh/lh?
My hCG is 23, yet my FSH @ <1 miu & my prolactin @ 33. Could i be in the early stages of pregnancy or is the hCG affected by my other high/low levels?
If a person cannot ovulate, does she have normal value hormone lik for a person who ovulating? I refer to leutnising hormone, fsh, b-hcg , oestrogent
No: I may be a little confused about the question, but my answer is 'no.' women who cycle/ovulate have fairly predictable patterns of all of those hormones, women who do not cycle will have a different pattern. ...Read more
Turned 42 last wk. 5 weeks late. 2 neg hCG tests. On day 7/10 provera (medroxyprogesterone). Will I get w/d bleed? Thyr, prolactin and estrogen normal. FSH was 30? Peri men?
Maybe: Yes you may get withdrawal bleeding when you stop Provera (medroxyprogesterone). FSH 30 is a little high - possible early menopause. Several reasons why period may be delayed: stress, thyroid hormone deficiency, excessive weight loss over a short time, strenuous physical activity as in athletes, pregnancy, or menopause. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Current RE prescribed HCG for oligospermia. 1st sperm count-1mil 2nd SA only 7 all dead except 1. FSH elevated LH testosterone Normal Will HCG work?
HCG for oligospermia: It is likely that you have a failure of the production of sperm from the testes. It is unlikely that hCG will increase your count. I suggest that you have a consultation with an infertility urologist. He/she will recommend a testicular bx to assess your sperm production. You will probably need IVF with ICSI (intracytoplastic sperm injection) to fertilize eggs, and obtain a pregnancy. ...Read more

Hormone therapy: HCG is human chorionic gonadotropin, which is made by the human placenta and is the basis of the pregnancy test; when it is present it is detected and gives a positive test. In females, HCG is often used to trigger ovulation in ovulation induction cycles. It’s given when the follicles are mature (usually 18mm) to trigger ovulation. It is occasionally used in the luteal phase (last 1/2 of cycle). ...Read more
Not in all cycles: Hcg, the pregnancy hormone, can be used as a trigger to ovulation. Structurally similar to luteinizing hormone, but longer lasting, HCG helps the follicle release the egg and switch from making estrogen to making progesterone, called luteinization. Hcg is also occasionally used to help the follicles mature. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Drops worthless: Drops are worthless. You need a qualified physician to administer correctly the injection HCG and the original 500 calorie diet with strict adherence. The diet only works on abnormal fat and once you rid yourself of abnormal fat you will not lose any more weight on the HCG diet. Weightloss will actually improve fertility. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Totalt:163 freet: 31.4tsh: 2.77 prolactin:6.4 FSH 2.8 LH 1.8. Uro prescribed axiron but I am scared of the side effects due to fertility.Alternatives?
Fertlity: You appear to have secondary hypogonadism. Your low testosterone level deserves a pituitary MRI to rule out pituitary disease. All hypogonadism impacts fertility. Testosterone does not improve this. One can use HCG injections to stimulate sperm counts when fertility is desired. ...Read more
Only shots work ...: Hcg (human chorionic gonadotropin) is a protein and only works in shot form - HCG drops and pills are *bogus* products sold to women on the "hcg diet". Hcg is used as part of fertility treatments, most often as a 'trigger shot' to tell your ovaries when to ovulate when taking medicines to increase egg production, or during in vitro fertilization (ivf) as a trigger or to help follicle development. ...Read more

If hCG is given to women for fertility then how can it be given to men for hypothalamic patuitary problems? And if it is given to men what does it do for them if they have hypothalamic patuitary problems?
HCG: Hcg is usally given to either men and women as a surrogate/substitute for luteinizing hormone (lh.) the HCG and lh molecular structures are nearly identical. In females lh triggers ovulations (among other things, ) likewise in males lh stimulates testicular leydig cells to produce testosterone (among other things.). ...Read more
