1) why my doc asked geno test with neg result
2 abno protein means? Help
More info needed: Your HIV test results are nearly conclusive you don't have it. Otherwise, I can't help much. Ask your doctor directly. I don't understand requesting HIV genotype except in someone with confirmed infection; the test can't even be done unless RNA or DNA positive for HIV. Maybe you misunderstood? There are many causes of "abnormal" urine protein and HIV isn't one of them as far as I know. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Hiv p24 ag ab combo test at 28 days, 42 days and 62 days, some are negative.Quanto to be safe after 62 days?
Not a good test: P24 antigen testing is not the best way to rule out infection. The most sensitive test is a qualitative viral dna test, not usually performed. At 62 days HIV elisa may well be positive, if you were infected. Because sometimes antibodies are not formed until 90 days, you can complement by HIV RNA test that can detect down to 20 copies per ml of blood. ...Read more
You're good: Be thankful for good health, and love safely from now on out of consideration for yourself and others, as a gentleman. You were wise to check. Get a follow-up from time to time, but the overwhelming odds are that you are not infected. Nobody even knows the false-negative rate for this because it's so low. ...Read more
Is HIV 1/2 antibody combo(cmia) test as accurate as ELISA test? Also if the combo test at 75 & repeated at 100 days concl. If they are non reactive?
HIV testing: Yes the combination of testing for p24 antigen and antibodies to HIV 1 ; 2 is quite accurate, even if done using techniques other than elisa. The negative results at >3 mos after exposure make it almost certain that you are not infected with this virus, although there have been very rare cases in which antibodies were not detected until 6 to 12 mos later. You are probably fine. ...Read more

Hello! Is 76 days (11 weeks) HIV 1&2 CMIA combo p24 nonreactive(0.07) test conclusive? Retest after a week required? Thanks!
Conclusive at 4+ wk: That test is conclusive any time 4 weeks or more after exposure. At 11 weeks, there is no need for additional testing. Former advice about testing at 3 months was for antibody-only tests, not combo tests; and even that is outmoded for the newer (third generation) antibody tests, which generally are conclusive after 6-8 weeks. ...Read more

Took HIV Antibody 1&2 Test and P24 Antigen test 10 days after PEP. Results non-reactive. A bit early. All other blood panel metrics normal. Thoughts?
Not conclusive: These results are reassuring; it is unlikely you were infected. However, the results are not conclusive. Following PEP, it is necessary to test for HIV longer than otherwise, maybe up to 4 months. (PEP is great when needed, but it prolongs the time of uncertainty about whether infection occurred.) Discuss with the clinic or doctor who prescribed the PEP and follow his or her advice. ...Read more
