HCGdiet looks unsafe: The HCG diet has a person eating 500 calories a day for more than a month. That's just one big slice of pizza a day. A 4-month old baby eats 500 calories a day. Anybody on 500 calories a day is on a starvation diet and will lose weight. It doesn't sound safe. Extremely low calorie diets don't work because the weight comes back when one starts eating again. Look for doubling: Not sure if the level is too low in general but we look for doubling of the HCG level every two to three days in early pregnancy. What's the progesterone level - should be monitored as well as it supports a healthy early pregnancy. Is it true that hCG can't be produced the day after conception? Or even a few days after conception?
Yes: Although, an early embryo can produce HCG approximately 5-6 days post fertilization, the amounts are so low, blood flow between the embryo and uterus is still poorly established; so you are not able to measure HCG in the maternal blood until aound 11-14 days post fertilization.
