Talk to doctor: Ms. Kathryn 440: You have two related questions. It would be better to talk to your doctor for explanation. Blood HCG needs to be higher than 25 to diagnose pregnancy. It is not clear how a urine pregnancy test told you that you are 2-3 weeks pregnant. You may repeat the urine pregnancy test, be sure to follow the instructions for the test carefully. Better would be to see your doctor for a repeat blood test and if needed an ultrasound examination. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Biochemical Pregnanc: If the test was positive and now lower, it is likely you had a biochemical pregnancy. This may mean that the pregnancy was not normal and would not result in you having a baby. Your body eliminated the tissue. This happens more often than we realize. Still, if it happens to you on more than 2 occasions, it suggests that there may be something else going on and you should talk to your doctor. ...Read more

I have done two clear blue pregnancy test which have both come back 'pregnant 1-2' but my hcg levels are only 47. What does this mean?
Early pregnancy: This level indicates that you are VERY early in pregnancy. You need to repeat the level within the next week (or retake a urine pregnancy test). If the hCG level is increasing or the urine test remains positive, there is a good likelihood that things are working. If the level is dropping, this was an early miscarriage. If you develop pain or bleeding, see your doctor or go to the Emergency Depart ...Read more

No: The HCG diet has a person eating 500 calories a day for more than a month. That's just one big slice of pizza a day. A 4-month old baby eats 500 calories a day. Anybody on 500 calories a day is on a starvation diet and will lose weight. It doesn't sound safe. Extremely low calorie diets don't work because the weight comes back when one starts eating again. Long-term lifestyle changes are needed. ...Read more

Can't recommend: These rapid weight loss drops are being promoted; I have not heard any physician say they are evidence-based, and the little i've read about their claims makes little sense. Probably: It depends on if you are a man or woman and the dose. There is probably a dose-related effect for risk of clots or overstimulation of ovaries. Women get elevation of estrogen (which causes its own problems) and men get elevation of testosterone (which can fuel prostate issues). Always take the recommended dose or consult with a professional. ...Read more
