Relaxation technique: In general, avoid using the bed for wakeful activities such as reading or watching tv. However, if reading or watching tv has helped in the past, continue to use them. Lie down in bed only if you are sleepy. Relaxation techniques can help you get into a state that is conducive to falling asleep. Avoid caffeine, sugar, etc. Within 3-4 hours of bedtime also. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Melatonin: Hi. In my experience, melatonin helps some people fall asleep, and it works relatively quickly (for example, within 30 minutes). It's short-lived, however, and it tends not to keep people asleep. So it may benefit you in falling asleep but not do much for keeping you asleep. You can try more also (3, 4, or 5 mg, for example). Good luck and sweet dreams! ...Read more
