Have women used rogaine (minoxidil) for frontal scalp hair loss with good results?

Have women used rogaine (minoxidil) for frontal scalp hair loss with good results?

Yes.: I know the package insert says it "has only been proven to work" on the vertex (crown) of the scalp - because clinical trials were conducted on that area, so the fda says the manufacturer cannot claim that it works anywhere else. However, in the real world, it works the same way on the frontal scalp as it does on the crown. ...Read more

Hair Loss (Definition)

Hair loss, otherwise known as alopecia, can be caused by different reasons, including damage to the hair shaft or follicles or fungal infections. There are two main types of alopecia. Alopecia areata occurs when the body's immune system attacks hair follicles and causes hair to fall out. Androgenetic (or androgenic) alopecia, on the other hand, is an inherited form of hair loss. With alopecia areata, hair can fall out in patches all over the body. With androgenetic alopecia, hair on the head first thins and then falls out. In men, this is called male pattern hair loss; in women, it is called ...Read more

My father and brother have lost hair on scalp. I have not yet suffered from hair loss. Should i start taking something as a precaution. Pills.Rogaine.?

Maybe: If you are to be bald it would be evident by age 23. You may not need any thing, but the sooner you start the better the result. The pills are more effective but require prescription. Some people use both. If you do something the benefit goes only to those who use it religeously for many years. ...Read more

I am 22 and loosing hair and has black spots randomly along his scalp. Spots are new hair loss is not. Mom thinks it's from using rogaine (minoxidil)?

Doubt it.: I doubt very much that either the black spots or the hair loss are due to rogaine (minoxidil) -- but i'm not sure what you mean by "black spots". Are they little black dots, about the width of a hair shaft? If so, you could have a fungus infection. Is the hair loss uniform or patchy? In short, you should see a dermatologist for a precise diagnosis and proper treatment. ...Read more

Black spots the size of a #2 pencil eraser, on scalp not from rogaine (minoxidil)? What's it from? Hair loss also toward the back of the scalp. What can it be?

Fungal infection.: There is a form of fungal infection known as black dot tinea due to the fact that the broken hair at the site of the skin reveals a "black dot". Additionally fungal infection can definitely cause hair loss and progress rapidly if left untreated. Start using an over the counter shampoo containing selenium sulfide, but get to an md to evaluate your scalp and possibly perform a scraping for fungus. ...Read more

Im 31m begining to show first signs of hair loss s@ back of my scalp. Does rogain or minoxidil really workk?

Yes, they may: Although, they may work for you, i'd recommend to rule out other possible causes of hair loss such as thyroid disease and/or anemia. If there is none of those, and you exhibit male baldness pattern, you may try rogaine (minoxidil). I'd not go for Minoxidil (oral) as it does have a higher incidence of side effects. ...Read more

Minoxidil induced hair loss i permanent or not? And whether it can work on bald scalp ?

Minoxidil induced hair loss i permanent or not? And whether it can work on bald scalp ?

Hair Growth: Minoxidil induces hair growth, not loss. Not everyone will grow hair, and it is less likely to help if you are completely bald. The increase in hair only occurs while you are using minoxidil. When you stop, the hair returns to "normal.". ...Read more
