Have Pain Top My Foot
I have a herniation @ L5 S1. I am having pain top of my foot. I thought I had a stress fracture but x-ray=wnl. My sock/foot felt wet? Should I f/u?
Varies: The pain you are having could be definitely coming from your back. The L5 nerve root can be compressed by a L5-S1 disc herniation and it does supply the top of the foot. The other possibility is a problem with the foot itself; it is not uncommon for a stress fracture to not show up on X-ray. A physical exam alone can usually distinguish between a foot and a spine problem; an esi can also help. ...Read more

I have pain on top of my foot, mainly when I walk. Half way of the foot toward the left side of the left foot the pain started about 2 weeks ago, it happened after the pain in my heel disappeared
Without more information, it's impossible for me to give you a meaningful answer. If you've been having heel pain and walking in such a way as to avoid pain in your heel, it's possible the pain you're getting now is just from overuse in walking to avoid pain. But it's purely a guess on my part.
I recommend you see a podiatrist and have your foot properly evaluated to find out exactly what's wrong.
Good luck and feel better. ...Read more

I have pain on the top of my foot, all the way across in the middle. Any ideas to help? I don't have insurance and want to try my own help first.
You may have runners extensor tendonitis, a simple test of this is to push your toes up against your hand and see if this replicates the pain. If so then you need to rest and consider lacing your shoes in a different manner (Lydiard lacing for example). If rest and changing your lacing does not work see a physiotherapist or your GP. ...Read more

Shin splints: This may be caused by shin splints. That is when the muscle that starts on the lower leg/shin bone extends downward and becomes a tendon that attaches into the foot.
