Had l spine xray and CT scan for kidney stones, all clear. Low back pain..Would l spine xray have shown lower back tumor? No stones, uti, etc.
No: An x-ray of the lumbar spine would predominantly show only bone. In general, an x-ray is not a very sensitive test to detect the specific cause of back pain in most patients. Consider requesting an MRI which shows the bone, but also shows the nerves, discs, and other soft tissues of the back and is therefore much more sensitive than an x-ray. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I have a cyst in my right kidney dimension 1 litre or 12 cm diameter. I also have low back pain due to 2 damaged discs. My questions are:
1 - Does the cyst impact the back pain negatively?
2 - Should I have the cyst removed? Any surgery risk?
Hard to say-maybe: That's an impressive sized cyst in the kidney & may be big enough to refer pain itself to the back. The presence of degenerative disks in the back likely means overall pain is a combination of both problems happening at once. Surgical risks are present in ALL cases where anesthesia is given. Is low back pain a clear indication that I have problem with my kidneys? My crea is normal but in the kub utz, the finding is "parenchymal disease"!
Kidney function: Low back pain is the second most common outpatient complaint in this country. I can't tell you what is causing your lumbago without taking at least a careful history. It could mean that inflammation or structural abnormality of the tissue is suspected. ...Read more
