It's possible: Trichomonas is a one-celled organism that can live anywhere there is enough moisture. Can someone get trichomoniasis without sexual contact even in rare instances? My wife and I have been faithful for 10 yrs

Yes, but not likely: Anything is possible. The diagnosis could be wrong, (mixed up the slides at the office/lab). Non sexual contact with something like a wet towel or toilet seat, etc. But the overwhelming likely answer is that someone, at some point in time had at least a moment of bad judgement (unprotected sex). Don't let it ruin the relationship. Trich can be fixed. Your wife is more valuable than sex. Fix it. ...Read more

Is there any way, no matter how rare, to contract trichomoniasis without sexual contact? My wife and I have been faithful to each other for 10 yrs.

Is there any way, no matter how rare, to contract trichomoniasis without sexual contact? My wife and I have been faithful to each other for 10 yrs.

Let try to answer: There is one study from africa (zambia). They found a high prevalence of trichomoniasis in girls in ndola who reported that they had never had sex. We postulate that the high prevalence of trichomoniasis in virgins in ndola is due to non-sexual transmission of trichomoniasis via shared bathing water and inconsistent use of soap. http://www.plosone.org/article/info:doi/10.1371/journal.pone.0016310. ...Read more

Tested positive for RECTAL chlamydia, took 1000 mg Azithromycin, no sexual contact at all, but still symptoms. Re-tested 3 weeks later, if it's positive again should I ask for a different antibiotic?

Tested positive for RECTAL chlamydia, took 1000 mg Azithromycin, no sexual contact at all, but still symptoms. Re-tested 3 weeks later, if it's positive again should I ask for a different antibiotic?

Chlamydia: Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted disease that should be treated quickly in order to avoid complications. Azithromycin is an antibiotic usually prescribed in a single dose, while doxycycline must be taken twice per day for about one week. This usually takes two weeks at most, during which time you will need to refrain from sexual contact. Your doctor will make the treatment plan. ...Read more

Hello, I recently got tested for clamydia and it came back positive my partner got tested and his came back negative we have been together for years I have not had any sexual contact with anyone else. If I had it from a past relationship he would have got

Not likely: Both partners should be treated after the positive result. False positives are possible but false negatives are more likely especially in male testing. Chalmydia can be spontaneously cleared without treatment. It is not likely that the infection has been there "for years" ...Read more

Took hpt on the 16th day and 18th day of the last sexual contact using withdrawal and results were negative. Is it accurate or I tested too soon?

Took hpt on the 16th day and 18th day of the last sexual contact using withdrawal and results were negative. Is it accurate or I tested too soon?

Test is accurate: The test itself is relatively accurate. However, the timing of the test is even more important. The appropriate time is within few days from your missed period or about 2 weeks after last ovulation. Time from last sexual encounter is meaningless unless you understand that pregnancy takes place only after ovulation and ovulation takes place about 2 weeks from the start of your last period . ...Read more

Can you infected with aids by kissing. How long after sexual contact can I be tested? Thank you

Can you infected with aids by kissing. How long after sexual contact can I be tested? Thank you

No: No, it is very unlikely to get infected with HIV (which causes aids) by kissing (assuming closed mouth kissing). Open mouth kissing may place you at higher risk if the hiv-infected person has an open bleeding sore that you come in contact with. However, this is very unlikely. Regarding getting HIV tested after sexual contact, it depends on your perceived risk of the person. I recommend 3-6 mos. ...Read more

Can you get chlamydia any other way besides sexual contact? Or is there a chance a chlamydia test can come out false positive?

Poss, not likely: Chlamydia is spread usually by sexual contact, but it is an organism and can be spread less commonly in other ways, like skin contact. If you get the highly accurate dna test, not too likely this is falsely positive, more likely you need to be treated. But if in doubt, i always say get another test! ...Read more

Small white bump on bottom lip. No pain. It has been present for 2 weeks. Tested negative for herpes 7 months after last sexual contact. ?

Small white bump on bottom lip. No pain. It has been present for 2 weeks. Tested negative for herpes 7 months after last sexual contact. ?

Not herpes: Herpes doesn't behave at all liks this. Sounds like a small cyst, pimple, etc. Herpes lesions never look the same for as long as 2 weeks. Within a few days it would change from red bump to blister to pimple to open sore to scab, and by now would probably be healed entirely. See a doctor if you remain concerned, but in the meantime you needn't be worried about herpes. ...Read more

Well I'm skinny about 5'11 and 149lbs and I can feel my lymph nodes and I was just wondering if inguinal groin nodes the size of raisins are normal? I haven't been in sexual contact in almost 8 months and the person I was with has been tested in every way

Nodes: Nodes normally are about that size or slightly larger. If you shave your pubic area that can lead to enlargement. I would be concerned if the nodes were rock hard or getting bigger. If you're still concerned, go see a gyn for a thorough pelvic examination that includes palpating the nodes and a pap smear. ...Read more

I had STD testing last week, haven't had any sexual contact in 2 years. my test results are. HSV1 ab <.090 and HSV 2 AB <0.90. Am I clear?

I had STD testing last week, haven't had any sexual contact in 2 years. my test results are.
HSV1 ab <.090 and HSV 2 AB <0.90. Am I clear?

Negative: Those results are negative, indicating you are not infected with HSV1 or HSV2. However, up to 30% of people with HSV1 do not test positive, so you could still have it. However, although can be sexually transmitted, the large maority of infections are oral and not acquired by sex, so it isn't generally considered an STD. ...Read more
