Has anyone had a hysterectomy and bladder lift done during the same surgery?

Has anyone had a hysterectomy and bladder lift done during the same surgery?

Very common: It is very common to do bladder surgery at the same time as a hysterectomy for patients with incontinence or a prolapsed (falling) bladder. A variety of surgical techniques can be used.

Bladder (Definition)

The bladder is a muscular organ in the pelvis that accepts urine from the kidneys, stores the urine at low pressure, & expels the urine during voluntary voiding. Though seemingly a simple reservoir, the bladder is a complex organ intricately connected with the brain and spinal cord with sensory, motor, and autonomic circuits. The muscular layer that contracts during voids ...Read more

Could you have a hysterectomy and your gall bladder out in same surgery?

Could you have a hysterectomy and your gall bladder out in same surgery?

Yes: These two surgeries can easily be done together but your obgyn will need to coordinate with the surgery with a general surgeon.

I have a trip booked with family for disneyland, but developed a bladder prolapse after 2.5 months from hysterectomy surgery with ant/post repair. I'musing sea sponge pessary and it helps, is ok to go?

Yes, enjoy trip: Frustrating to have prolapse recur so soon after surgery. Bladder prolapse is rarely dangerous unless you can't pee. If the sponge is helping, enjoy trip and see a urogynecolgist when you get back.

Hysterectomy soon. Just started ceftin (cefuroxime) for 2 weeks then on to keflex for 30 days for chronic bladder infection. Ok to keep taking thru surgery?

Antibiotics ; surger: You can continue taking your medication up until your surgery. During the procedure you will probably get IV antibiotics so don't worry about the dose for the day of surgery or during your hospitalization. Good luck.

I'm having a hysterectomy and a bladder lift done with the da Vinci arm at the same time. Will I have to go home with a catheter?

I'm having a hysterectomy and a bladder lift done with the da Vinci arm at the same time. Will I have to go home with a catheter?

Fairly likely: But feel free to check with your surgeon's office or ask him/her in the preoperative area; or you can wait until after the surgery and find out based on whether there is a catheter and whether the discharge instructions talk about catheter care. Best of luck!!

Can I vacuum a week after I had a hysterectomy and bladder sling. My dr said I can't lift anything more than 15-20lbs but not vacuuming.

Can I vacuum a week after I had a hysterectomy and bladder sling. My dr said I can't lift anything more than 15-20lbs but not vacuuming.

Better safe than...: Do you think you would never lift the vacuum? It's probably better to wait. If you can't be sure, call your doctor. They know what they did and whether it would be safe. The last thing you want is for them to have to go back and do the work again.

My doctor told me I have a large uterus. I'm having a hysterectomy and bladder tack done in the next 2 months. Would I have to have an abdominal?

My doctor told me I have a large uterus. I'm having a hysterectomy and bladder tack done in the next 2 months. Would I have to have an abdominal?

Ask the surgeon: You need to ask this question to the surgeon who is doing the surgery whether he/she is going to do abdominal, laparoscopy, robot assisted or vaginal hystrectomy.

I'm going to have a hysterectomy and would like to know more about having this done using robotic surgery method.

I'm going to have a hysterectomy and would like to know more about having this done using robotic surgery method.

Revolutionary option: Robotic hysterectomy using the da vinci surgical system allows the surgeon to perform complex surgery using minimally invasive techniques. We can do hysterectomies this way without making a large incision. The benefits to the patient are less pain, less blood loss and a faster recovery. Wfaa news: http://macobgyn. Com/drpl/? Q=node/97.

I never had surgery till my hysterectomy which was never done and the doctor tells me that things were attached to other things that shouldn't have.?

Adhesions: Sounds like your doc is describing "adhesions". This is scar tissue that causes the internal organs to be stuck to each other. Causes include pelvic infections, previous surgery and endometriosis.

My sisters dr nicked bladder during hysterectomy. Stitched and placed stent. How serious is this?

Should be fine: You may mean placed "catheter"in the urethra. If there was just "nick"in the bladder if is stitched, Foley catheter left in for 10days to be sure nick is healed. To be v.sure, cystogram can be done before removing the catheter. Leaving a ureteral stent is only done if there was injury to the ureter or the area called trigone very close to ureter (it is v.unusual to injure this area in hysterectomy)

Why am I spot bleeding after having a partial, partial hysterectomy. I still have my ovaries and cervix. I had my surgery done 01/04/11?

Why am I spot bleeding after having a partial, partial hysterectomy. I still have my ovaries and cervix. I had my surgery done 01/04/11?

Residual tissue: With a partial hysterectomy, there can be some glands left behind in the cervix that still function like a uterus. These are responsive to hormones and can bleed. This could also be a sign of cervical dysplasia (abnormal cells) or infection. I recommend that you see a gynecologist soon to have this evaluated as it can be serious and it is treatable.

Hysterectomy done in 2012 I have had pains in pelvic since 08 still having problems hurts with full bladder, when standing/walking painful intercorse?

IC: Such symptoms are suggestive of interstitial cystitis. This inflammatory bladder condition classically is associated with painful intercourse and pelvic discomfort. Consider having a checkup with a urologist for confirmation.

I had a partial hysterectomy with removal of my falopian tubes/bladder sling done 3 wks ago, 4 days ago started bleeding, gushing now, is this normal?

I had a partial hysterectomy with removal of my falopian tubes/bladder sling done 3 wks ago, 4 days ago started bleeding, gushing now, is this normal?

No: Bleeding 3 weeks post op is not normal. If it is old (dark, syrupy) blood, it may be you had a hematoma, and it is now draining. You need to be seen by your surgeon to see what's going on.
