Talk to the surgeon.: Foot cramping beginning 6 months after the surgery means that the surgery may have effected the function of the foot. The solution is ask the surgeon for his solution. You may need therapy, orthotics or a combination of the two to turn the problem around. I doubt if this will clear up without some type of intervention, in fact, it may increase without treatment. ...Read more

Shooting leg pains: Pains shooting down the leg are most likely 'sciatica' and may or may not relate to your recent foot surgery. When a nerve gets irritated or 'pinched' it is going to 'fire off' and produce pains like you describe. Certain things cause sciatica like a herniated disc and I would recommend getting this checked out ASAP. Perhaps 'hobbling' around after foot surgery you 'popped' something in ur back ...Read more

Be sure you are drinking fluids that can replace the electrolytes you lose while running. Smart Water and Pedialyte are good alternatives to sugary sport drinks like Gatorade. Cramps: Cramping in the foot can be as simple as biomechanical dysfunction which causes muscles/tendons to work harder, thus causing strain and fatigue. Try some good supportive shoes and orthotics and see if correcting your foot position and alignment might correct the muscle strain and fatigue that is causing your cramps.
