Harm Unborn Baby
Was wondering I touched a little bit of lead wile cleaning they say it harms unborn baby when in contact with lead will my unborn be ok it wasint alot?
Don't worry: Lead is a danger when it's absorbed by the body. If you are handling lead regularly, and then eating with unwashed hands, that might be a concern. Or if you live in a home with lots of old lead-based paint, which gets mixed into the dust of the home, and eat with unwashed hands so that dust gets ingested, that would be a problem. Briefly touching a lead object is not a concern. ...Read more
I had car running while closed garage door then immediately turned it off, did I breathe residual CO and did it harm unborn baby?
Possible: Need to immediately spend 30 minutes outdoors in fresh air. Minimal exposure should expose you to less CO than you would be exposed to when walking by an active roadway. If you were in closed vehicle with minimal idling and immediately exited the garage exposure should be minimal. Prolonged fresh are is warranted. Prolonged idling and exposure would warrant a visit to ER ...Read more

Fetus hydronephrosis: congenital hydronephrosis is very common. The obstruction in the outflow track of urine causes it and what caused this obstruction? Most of time resolves by itself-- needs close monitoring though. Sometimes might need surgical intervention. ...Read more

Can ajax harm an unborn baby I ate a sandwich that tasted like it . I just want to know just in case I did eat some on my sandwich from the store?
Unlikely: Small amounts of caffeine are probably safe in pregnancy. It's best to limit yourself to less than 200 mg a day, about the amount in two 8 ounce cups of coffee. Large amounts of caffeine, can interfere with your sleep, cause dehydration and stimulate heart rate irregularities. Caffeinated sodas have about 1/3 the caffeine as coffee and tea has about 1/2. ...Read more
I accidentally cooked and ate a store bought quiche without first removing the aluminium tray. Will this harm my unborn baby?
No: There's nothing to suggest this is true. Today we are much more concerned than we were in the past about alcohol, tobacco and drugs affecting the unborn child. But you cannot allow yourself to become afraid of everything that you will normally meet in the course of your life. Congratulations to you as a mother-to-be. Be discerning. ...Read more
Can you harm a unborn baby by drinking vingear? If so can you harm yourself as well? What are the things that can happen to you?
No: Don't listen to the lawyer ads. There is no evidence for birth defects from zoloft (sertraline). It has been the antidepressant of choice for pregnant women for the last ten years because of the largest data base of babies born showing to clear effect. Such the ads naming it. There's a rate of birth defects in all and zoloft (sertraline) doen't increase that risk. Being depressed and not taking care of oneself is a risk. ...Read more

I am currently 17 weeks and 2 days pregnant and have been diagnosed with ureaplasma. If cured will this still harm my unborn baby?
Some basics: The fetus is wrapped in several layers of protection that make up the fetal membranes. These insulate the baby from any external forces that may happen nearby, making their connection through the placenta/blood to mama the only way for any germ to effect them. Vaginal infections with yeast are distant and localized. The infection does not enter the blood. Baby will not be effected. ...Read more

I am pregnant and work in a nursing home with folks that have shingles. Will it harm my unborn baby?
Most likely not: Shingles is caused by a reactivation of dormant chicken pox virus. As long as you had chicken pox (or the vaccine), your baby will be fine because you have antibodies to the virus already and will fight it off. If you did not have chicken pox, then you are at risk, and so is your baby. If you are not sure, you should get a blood test to see if you do have antibodies or not. ...Read more

Hi! Is sertraline 75 mg is a high dose during pregnancy? Can 75mg harm the unborn baby? Wich dose is bad for baby?
Sertraline: Antipressant use in pregnancy needs to be addressed one on one where the benefits of using must be weighed against the risks. In a severe case of depression the risks of not treating the depression may outweigh the risks of treatment.
