How much baby food should 7mth eat?when will food start to be main source of nutritional value?

How much baby food should 7mth eat?when will food start to be main source of nutritional value?

Not much: The reason for baby foods at that age is to introduce a new method, not overtake the value of breast milk or formula. A tablespoonful or two is fine for starters. If the kid seems to want more, that is one of the goals, but they should not drop their other intake below 16-20 oz. By 1 yr, they should have a balance between the two. ...Read more

How do I introduce baby to solid food without my fear of choking? I plan on all homemade food. Terrified of giving anything too chewy or hard. Advice?

Choking: You don't say how old baby is. But if he is ready, start wit soft food blended to smooth consitancy. Small spoonfuls. Have him sitting up straight in high chair and watch him closely as he swallows and spits out. Don't force him. Once you relax and he gets used to it, you can try thicker food...And so on. Good luck. ...Read more

Should I test for what kind of food my new born baby allergic to before offering solid food ?

Should I test for what kind of food my new born baby allergic to before offering solid food ?

Generally unnecessry: Food reactions in infants can vary from simple spitups to recurrent vomiting, loose stool to copious diarrhea, nasal congestion, hives etc. Simply delaying foods until the baby sits up can avoid the impact of a food reaction as a bigger baby can handle it. A calander of what u add/when & what events happen over several days is adequate to monitor rxns.Testing should be limited to confirming allergy. ...Read more

I'm12weeks pregnant can it harm baby to lift something that weighs 4 kilograms?I was in a market buying some products to eat.

Doubtful: I have have taken care of kids of jazercise instructors that continued to teach class up to the week of delivery & never had any issues.I wouldn't advise lifting a 20kg bag of whatever because it would be awkward & strain your system. However, 4kg is unlikely to be an issue. ...Read more

My 19 months baby girl today just stop drinking her milk and she's chewing her food and not swallowing the food she's spitting it out what could be th?

Mouth sores: Babies have no concept of needing to eat/drink to avoid problems. They do what feels okay.If swallowing hurts. they quit.I would look in her mouth, throat for sores, resdness. Ice chips or chilled foods like near frozen applesauce may be accepted since it could soothe the soreness. If it continues she needs to see her doc. ...Read more

What are the baby foods safe to feed a g6pd deficiency baby?

What are the baby foods safe to feed a g6pd deficiency baby?

Most are safe: From the time when babies are sitting to when they walk is a marvelous opportunity to introduce many flavors of foods (www.Drgreene.Com/colorin). Kids with g6pd deficiency should avoid fava beans. Some kids - depending on their variant - should also avoid blueberries (& yogurts containing them), soy, other legumes, some chinese herbs, or tonic water (not great for babies anyway). I love g6pd.Org. ...Read more

How soon can you start putting food in a breastfed baby's milk?

How soon can you start putting food in a breastfed baby's milk?

Why ever????: If you are interested in transitioning baby to solids, they should get the "tutoring" of using their mouth & tongue a different way. It should not be put in a bottle of breast milk. A paste or puree of the material should be offered off a spoon. If baby is not interested, there is no harm in waiting until s/he is. Six months is the time most have lost their tongue thrust & feed easily. ...Read more

What are the danger of mobile waves when using for along period of time in pregnancy..Is it harm to baby?
My wife due date is 22-5-2013..
Thanks

Good question..: Cell phone use has dramatically increased during pregnancy with little to no evidence it is safe. It is interesting to note that it coincides with the dramatic increase in autism spectrum disorders and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder - although no evidence to link these facts has ever been scientifically proven. I would advise minimizing use of cell phones, laptops around pregnancy sac! ...Read more

I am 6 weeks pregnant my TSH is 12 said to be high. Dosage I am taking is 100mg of eltorxin and in feb it was 0.8. Is there any harm to baby .

Thyroid/pregnancy: Most likely there will be no noticeable effects on your baby once he/she is born. Your hypothyroidism was diagnosed early in your pregnancy which is good. Generally the recommendation is to keep the TSH between the lower end of normal but below 2.5 which is where yours is currently. Hope this helped. ...Read more

Yesterday my wife was angry so she walked a bit fast...can it cause any harm to baby as she is 19 week pregnant?

No: Walking, especially walking quickly, is good for your health and does no harm to the baby. Tension, anxiety, stress can have an effect. I always recommend that a husband treat his wife very well when pregnant. After all, "if Mom ain't happy, ain't nobody happy". Do your best to not make her angry or cause her stress. I'll bet you can do it. ...Read more

Nope.: You probably cannot strain hard enough to increase the pressure so much in your abdominal space to harm a fetus. Don't worry. You may, however, be uncomfortable - fiber, water, stool softeners, and laxatives can all help - just check with your doctor or pharmacist to be sure they're safe in pregnancy! ...Read more

Is it normal to get a cystocele on first pregnancy at 27w? Not overweight. Stand and sit for long periods of time. Is there harm to baby?

No harm...: Cystocele rarely occurs in your described scenario, but not impossible. If it's, it would be very minimal or marginal. Clinically, it bears no harm to baby during pregnancy, but be aware that more vaginal deliveries may worsen the degree of existing cystocele over time. This is life and that is what we know about it. Ws hypothyroid(TSH 4.5).With synthroid, (thyroxine)my TSH is 0.03 and FT4=2.3.Dose reduced. If I conceive now,wht r the harm to baby?Is it different than Grave's?

Dose should be cut: Your hypothyroidism was borderline with TSH of 4.5 but most would recommend treatment if you are pregnant to get TSH below 3. However the dose of thyroid hormone you were given was too high so now you are mildly hyperthyroid. Don't think it will harm the baby but dose should be reduced to bring your FT4 below 1.8 and your TSH up to the 0.5-3 range ...Read more
