Poop check: Sounds like your diarrhea has been a persistent problem for over 2 months. Given the description of mucus in the stool this raises the concern for infection or inflammation as an underlying cause. Get second opinion: Although the risk of colorectal cancer increases with age and is rare in at age 30, it is possible. It sounds like the source of your pain and discomfort has not been identified. Normal: Newborns can make a lot of funny noises, including grunting, especially with gas. Having a BM can be a lot of work for a little one-- weak abdominal muscles, lying flat...so you can help him--put him in a sitting position (gravity), pull his legs up (imagine yourself trying to poo lying flat with very weak abs!)
