Tinea Pedis: It sounds like a tinea pedis or athletes foot. Fungus can be very resistant to medication. Put lotrimin (clotrimazole) AF cream as well as hydrocortisone cream 15 three times a day for a week. Keep elevated: 19y/o Female hit left knuckle on doorknob about half hr ago, icing it but still swollen, somewhat numb & sore. These are expected body response for the acute injury described. Continue with icing on and off over the next 24hrs while awake, but do NOT freeze your hand. Keep elevated and avoid using it over the next day or so. OTC analgesics if needed. Get yourself seen --: By your gp or an ortho doc so x rays could be done to DX the problem. You could have a fracture or ligament/tendon disruption, and in all these situations you need to be treated, as otherwise you might develop long term problems. Good luck. ...Read more

Most likely: Swelling from a severe contusion to the fingers or hand can persist for up to 4 months. Just because x rays are negative you could have a soft tissue injury particularly to the dorsum of the fingers due to the minimal soft tissue protection. Follow up with hand surgeon. ...Read more
