Lump below rib cage in centre, feels hard, does not hurt. Feel when lying down on back. When I do a sit-up I don’t feel it.?

Could be a lipoma?: If it’s smooth and feels slippery it could be a common, non cancerous growth made of fat tissue. Your GP can feel this and confirm this and may have a picture taken (for example with an ultrasound) if there’s a question about what it is after feeling it. Sometimes if it’s very bothersome, it can be removed easily and rapidly. ...Read more

How can I get a hard lump out under not mine but one of my friends rib cage?

How can I get a hard lump out under not mine but one of my friends rib cage?

Have them go to a MD: Dear lefty,

while your intentions may be good, you obviously should not be trying to remove a hard lump from under your friends rib cage for a great number of reasons (including that it may not have to be removed, as in the case of benign lipomas). However, if you truly want to help your friend out, obviously you will have them follow up with a physician for a thorough examination of this area. ...Read more

I just found a hard almost golf ball sized lump where my rib cage splits. What could it be?

Lump: I need a better description of what you mean by where my rib cage splits. If you mean in the front along the midline at the base of your breastbone this may represent the xiphoid process which is a bony prominence that can be quite palpable in some people. In any other location this could be a bone callous or something superficial to the ribs such as a cyst. I would recommend you see a physician for a full history and physical examination with possible imaging. ...Read more

Lump: This may be the xiphoid process-a piece of cartilage at the lower end of the sternum (breast bone). This is normal and is usually in the midline and can protrude in the upper abdomen but in your case may be slightly to the left. To be sure, you'd need to have a physician examine you, however. ...Read more
