Breast calcification: Calcifications in the breast tissue are seen frequently on mammography. The important distinction is whether they are clustered close together or spread out randomly in the breast tissue. Sometimes a better image is obtained by magnification views on mammogram, and if there is any suspicion of something serious then MRI would be good to do. A physical exam of the breasts is also important. ...Read more

Biopsy: The only way to be 100% sure what it is, is to get a piece (biopsy) and look at the tissue under the microscope. So see a board certified plastic surgeon or general surgeon to do the biopsy. ...Read more

Neck lump: Great that you had it checked. Did you have any sort of prior injury to that spot? Even acne can leave a calcification behind after it heals. Did the radiologist recommend repeating the sonogram in 6-12 months? Might help to see if there is a change over time. Don't worry, but do recheck it. ...Read more

Need evaluation: There are many possible causes for your current symptoms. Although the ct showed "small calcified densities in the thyroid", it still might not be the cause for your difficulty swallowing. The next step would be a thyroid u/s to see if these "densities" are in a nodule and to see how many nodules & how big they are. Get the ct result, sit down with your doc and discuss the next step of evaluation. ...Read more

Calcification on left breast. Need a needle core biopsy. Feel swollen under left arm but don't feel a lump. Would my mammos detect underarm too?

Breast is priority: Your priority and that of the mammogram is to detect early breast lesions so that a needle biopsy dx can be rendered. The underarm swelling may be due to enlarged lymph nodes for which no x-ray is needed (you already know that they are enlarged). If the breast bx is malignant, the following step will be surgery that may include sampling of the lymph nodes (like sentinel node) . ...Read more
