Good food, probiotic: If your son overall looks good, appetite and activity are normal and his belly is not tender on pressing, then it is likely just constipation. It is quite common in kids. Give more fiber+H2O: Important details: ? weight gain, abdominal pain? frequency of bm's? If your child is happy, stooling regularly and seems healthy, then stool appearance is less important. Constipated...: Most likely he is suffering from constipation. Trying to increase his fluids (prune or apple juice works well), and decrease milk intake if he drinks a lot. Depends on if this is a long standing problem or if he has pain with defecation which is causing him to withhold, treatment with a stool softener like MiraLAX (generic = polyethylene glycol) may be needed, but i would start this with his doc. ...Read more
