Hard Armpit Lump Indicate Cancer
Like a lump: I am not trying to be funny but often you cannot tell malignant vs. Non-malignant masses. Inflammed nodes are sometimes tender but don't depend on that. If you have palpable masses under the armpit, have 'em checked. Best to you. ...Read more

Under armpit lump and chills what checkup should I do without making it obvious to my mom that I think I might have cancer. Do I have cancer? I'm 18
Less Likely: I think you should speak to your MOm right away and let her know what is happening to you. There are many other causes of a swollen lymph node in the arm pit (axilla) including and infection that needs treatment with an antibiotic. The less likely cause is a "cancer". Please see your doctor right away and also speak to your Mom. ...Read more

Radioloically occult: Most breast cancers that are large enough to feel should be visible at mammography and/or ultrasound. There are several conditions that can cause lumps that are non-cancerous, such as fibrocystic condition, lipoma, prominent fat lobules, etc. Rarely, breast cancer can remain undetected by mammography and ultrasound. If you're still concerned, consider Breast MRI, second opinion or possibly biopsy. ...Read more

I bet it's not: If it starts growing or gets stuck to your nearby structures, get it seen. Otherwise, it's probably just the axillary lymph node that many of us have, especially if at some time you had an infection or contact dermatitis on that extremity and it got a little bit scarred up. I have a lump under left armpit, dr thinks it's only a cyst I go for test tomorrow, it's painful could this be cancer some say cancer doesn't hurt?
You are right: Cancer commonly is a painless bump/lump. But some tumors can be tender. Armpit is prone to get infection in the hair follicles which can produce a red, tender painful lump but it usually settles down in one to two weeks. Breast cancer, of course can spread to the lymph nodes of the armpit and produce a firm, painless lump there. That is what you need to be sure about. ...Read more
I have a small lump under my right armpit. Its been there for 2 months. It was painful initially, but not anymore. I am a 24 year old male. Cancer?
Not likely: Infection or inflammation of anytime can produce a painful lump. This seems to be the case with your lump under the arm. The fact it is now painless indicates that acute problem has settled down. But watch its size...Which should get smaller and not be increasing at all. If it is increasing in size, then you need to see a doctor for further examination to find out its nature. Cancer is unlikely rig. ...Read more
I had a lump in my armpit for one year. It was very small and pain free. Now in 2 days it has become enlarged, swollen and very painful. Is it cancer?
Probably not: If you're a 24 year old male, it's extremely unlikely that you have a cancer causing a lump in the armpit. It is much more likely that it is a subcutaneous abscess. The proper treatment for something like that is I&D (incision and drainage). This can be done under local anesthesia in a doctor's office, preferably either a dermatologist or a general surgeon. ...Read more

I recently found a lump in my armpit. It's pretty painful. I now have three lumps in my armpit that are painful and slightly red. Cancer symptom?
Not really: Cancer in the armpit essentially represents metastasis to the lymph nodes high up near the axillary vein. They are for the most part painless and would not be associated with redness. Rather one would expect inflammation of the sweat glands right under the skin for which warm soaks and possibly antibiotics would be effective. ...Read more

Tell your doctor: There are plenty of causes for lumps in the armpit that are not cancerous. See your doctor, let them take a look at it. It could be a swollen lymph node from a viral or bacterial illness (reactive lymphadenopathy) - if you have an infection then "chills" are also quite common. Don't panic and drive yourself crazy.
