Hand Pain No Swelling
Swollen ring finger on left hand. No joint pain just stiffness. No other fingers hurt. Both hand and wrist feel fine. No redness. Any ideas?

Phlebitis: What you are describing sounds like superficial phlebitis- which is inflammation( swelling) of a vein which is close to the skin surface. We treat these with warm compresses and elevation of that extremity. The swelling can take anywhere from a few days up to a week or so to resolve. Dvt: given your description your pain and especially its location and lack of distal congestion it is unlikely to be due to dvt. Shin pain. No bruising or injury. No swelling. No heat or redness. Ice and rest help a tiny bit. Roll ankle makes pain unbearable.
Stretch muscles: "Shin splint" pain w/ no injury is best treated w/NSAIDs ( ibuprofen), stretching of your lower leg muscles ( w/ theraband) and weight loss.If no improvement consult w/ an orthopaedic surgeon for definitive diagnosis and examination.Lower limb alignment can predispose to shin pain. More info?: This could be gout, though there would usually be redness. Rheumatoid arthritis comes to mind but usually no sudden onset and generally more joints that one small finger joint. Dvt: Localized pain behind the knee is not very common as a symptom of deep vein thrombosis. However doing a venous duplex ultrasound (Doppler-sonography) would identify and clarify this issue.
