I broke my hand and got a cast. It's still swollen and I think it's squeezed too tightly. What can I do?

Depends: It depends somewhat on the nature of the fracture and if there were other associated injuries. It is not terribly abnormal, particularly if you are getting better. Fractured wrist: Can be a hairline injury that nay only need a splint to a more complex injury. How do you know . Well short if completing a residency in orthopedic surgery or a fellowship in hand or a related field .... You won't .... My son broke his wrist on Wednesday. It's in a cast and his fingers are very swollen. He can move them, thought it's with some pain. Is this normal?

Gradually subside: If you have been immobilized in a cast for awhile for a fracture, you will potentially need some therapy to return to normal. You may need to get treatment to regain your normal motion, strength, and yes to decrease some of the residual swelling. Your cast may be: too tight and therefore constricting blood flow in and out of your hand. I would call your orthopedic or emergency room doctor and have them revise the cast ASAP.
