When: When a patient has new symptoms, it can be helpful to write the symptoms down so that their primary care doctor can carefully evaluate the symptoms. Keeping a journal of when the patient's symptoms occur, in relation to time of day, eating, and activity can be helpful. The primary care doctor should be aware of all of the patient's medications and any herbal supplements. Family history can be helpful information as well. Any new or ongoing symptoms should be discussed with the primary care physician. ...Read more

Prob not a seizure: I'm not sure what your exam showed, but if you had these symptoms while you had the EEG, it would have been able to show whether you were having a seizure or not. Based on the premise that you retain awareness, it does not sound like a seizure, at least not a generalized seizure. ...Read more

Hello.: Hello. I noticed that you have tagged both panic attacks and seizures here. I will start by describing panic attacks. Panic attacks are usually brief. They often last a couple of minutes to around ten minutes. Symptoms can include a sense of severe anxiety or panic as well as chest tightness or pain and a rapid or pounding heartbeat. There could also be areas of numbness or pins and needles type sensation. A person can experience hot flashes or chills and perspire heavily. There may be a tickle sensation in the stomach or nausea. When a person has a panic attack they may feel dizzy or faint and may become physically shaky. The person may fear that they are going crazy, they are out of control or that they are about to die. They may have a sense that they are unreal (a form of dissassociation called depersonalization). The sense that everything in the environment feels abnormal is derealization.
Although what you are describing sounds a lot like a panic attack; it is very important to have a full physical evaluation to rule out the possibility that this a medical problem. I recommend that you be evaluated by your family doctor. He or she may consult with a neurologist. Clearly these episodes feel really bad, so I hope you get a medically evaluated soon. ...Read more

I have pain in my right elbow. It is slightly painful when I fully extend it and is a sharp pain when I am gripping something or shaking hands.

Poss. Epicondylitis: Hi! Depending on where exactly the elbow hurts and whether it hurts when you twist hand (a door knob, for ex.) clockwise or counterclockwise you may have lateral or medial epicondylitis, aka tennis or golfer's elbow--both "overuse" syndromes. Transient weakness: Temporary reduced muscle strength and shakiness can follow prolonged overuse of those muscles and this isn't necessarily a serious issue if you don't develop weakness with normal but somewhat strenuous exertion. The difference is the very prolonged muscular overuse often in ways you're not accustomed to. If you have further concerns, consult your physician or a neurologist for evaluation. ...Read more

Minor injury: The shaking of your hand probably caused the needle to pierce and traumatize the vein and tissue. This caused a hematoma (the discoloration). You also may have traumatized a small nerve or caused a mechanical phlebitis (inflammation of a vein). This could account for the pain. Lastly there is rare neurologic condition called rsd that can can occur from minor injuries. This in unlikely. ...Read more
