Hamate fracture: It typically takes 8-12 weeks for a hamate fracture to heal completely, longer if you use nicotine products. 4 weeks of casting is recommended, followed by cast removal, range of motion and light strengthening exercises. Depends: Must have been a serious injury to cause that much damage. Not all ligament tears need surgery, but if needed ligament repairs should be done early rather than late. Sounds like you should see a hand surgeon to get things checked out. Maybe even a second opinion. Ligament repair surgery of the wrist is quite involved with a minimum of 3-4 month recovery. ...Read more

Fx. of other bone: Your complaints don't sound like a hook of hamate fracture... However since you "punched a wall" my advice is to have your hand and wrist x-rayed to r/o any other fractures. ...Read more
