How do I know if I have glaucoma? My eye is red, and I have been seeing strange halos when I look at lights. Sometimes one of my eyes hurts a lot. Could this mean that I have glaucoma?
Possible.: Unfortunately, retinal detachment occurs not uncommonly after cataract surgery in about one to two cases per hundred cataract surgeries. I have been seeing rainbow halos after I had put some chemicals in the eyes 8 yrs back, doct says nothing wrong. Gave me just tears e/d. Will it heal?
Rainbow haloes: Based on your history, the issue is not likely going to resolve. It may be related to corneal scarring and irregularity related to prior chemical exposure. I would continue the artificial tears and consider getting a rigid gas permeable contact lens fit to eliminate any possible corneal irregularity. See an eye doctor for this consideration. Depends: I'm assuming you mean halos around objects in your vision, like lights. Halos occur when any of the light rays entering your eye get scattered on their path to the retina (the seeing part of the eye). This could occur with dirty/scratched/outdated rx glasses, corneal irregularities (e.g., dry eye, allergies), cataract, floaters, and some macular disorders. An eye md (ophthalmologist) can help.
