Probably not ....: but that's a lot of activity for a little wrist! In general, it's best to avoid any further unusual use of a part if it's started to get you some negative feedback like numbness. While the planks and push ups are normal activities for you, it is extra work for your arm. Just do other activities (no arm use) until the numbness goes away. Use ice. If it lasts >24 hrs, call your doc. Good wishes:) ...Read more

Your : Your "funny bone" is your ulnar nerve at the elbow located in an area knoiwn as the cubital tunnel. The cubital tunnel is a tight band of tissue that holds the ulnar nerve in place and prevents it from sliding around when you move the elbow. The ulnar nerve contains nerve fibers that give snesation to the little and ring fingers and the small muscles of the hand and several forearm and forearm based finger muscles the extent of the bruise determines the time frame for this injury. Prior issues wit the nerve, genreal health, age, diabetes, circulation, smoking and other things all affect nerve recovery. ...Read more

I punched a wall out of frustration, and aside from the pain, the ulnar side of my hand is numb to touch. Is that just caused by swelling?

I punched a wall out of frustration, and aside from the pain, the ulnar side of my hand is numb to touch. Is that just caused by swelling?

Maybe: Yes, could be due to pressure on the nerves due to swelling. The bigger issue at the moment is that you have swelling which is likely from a fracture. So, if not done so already, you need to get an x-ray and probably have an orthopedic doctor check it out. Most orthopedic offices have an acute care clinic for problems like yours. ...Read more

Started seeing spots then now my hand is numb. What's going on? I've been trying to heal from wisdom teeth extraction. Is it from that ?

Vague: Hard to say without a thorough history and exam. Question on when the wisdom teeth were extracted, severity and frequency of the spots and numbness. I would not hesitate- see the dentist/oral surgeon or emergency depart asap. It may or not be related...Getting the wisdom teeth out may have compromised your immune system and other ailments are appearing. May not even be related. ...Read more

Either : Either the ganglion is pressing against a nerve, or mom was right, and the immobilizer you wore was, indeed, too tight. Why suffer? Go see a hand surgeon. Ganglion cysts can be aspirated (drained) and sometimes, a little cortisone injected after the aspiration could prevent it from recurring (as they sometimes do). If all else fails, the surgery to remove it is not terribly disabling or complicated. ...Read more
