If worst HA of your life, associated with neck pain, vision changes, balance problems, focal weakness arm/leg, trouble speaking or skin rash need to be seen ASAP. I am assuming by intense headache you mean his pain is about an 8 or higher out of ten. Regardless an unrelenting headache that has been present for 3 days needs to be investigated. He could be dealing with a tension or migraine headache, extremely high blood pressure, or even a bleed in his brain. I don't mean to scare you but serious things can and do happen. If he has not seen a doctor as of yet he should do so immediately.
