My haldol decanoate finally ran out. Used it to get over geodon (ziprasidone) withdrawal. Now i'm on zyprexa but tried geodon (ziprasidone) one day and now feeling anxious. Zypre?
Avoid Zyprexa (olanzapine) if possible: Extremely rare that i prescribe zyprexa, unless for some reason weight gain (that tends to occur very frequently with zyprexa) is desired. Metabolic syndrome and diabetes are also not uncommon adverse effects. If a medication in this class is required, i think Abilify (aripiprazole) at lowest effective dose is often helpful with a relatively low incidence of the serious side effects very often seen with zyprexa. ...Read more
Does 100mg haldol (haloperidol) decanoate stay in your system after the four weeks even a little bit?
Does haldol (haloperidol) decanoate 100 mg take 15 weeks to completely be eliminated because it's half life is three weeks?
rule of 5's: Typically, half life elimination is governed by multiplier of 5, so if half-life is 3 wks, full elimination would be of course 15 weeks. That is indeed a long time, and i suspect that the true drug elimination half-life is shorter for your haldol, (haloperidol) as mechanistically, the duration is not the true half-life. ...Read more
If haldol (haloperidol) decanoate 100mg takes 15 to fully eliminate and im at week 5, will it still be released, active and have an effect on me? Also taking zyprex
Haldol (haloperidol) decanoate: Haldol (haloperidol) will continue to be released in an active form until it leaves for system completely. Meanwhile it sounds like you are being transitioned over to zyprexa. There is a definite art doing this in long-acting forms and I am sure that your doctor is taking this into account. If for some reason you have any doubts, simply ask your doctor exactly what the plan is for the transition and how it works. Best wishes. ...Read more
I remember being injected with Haldol (haloperidol) decanoate and being unable to eat my food because I had so much eps. Is this typical? is my brain damaged?
Haldol (haloperidol) is known for: hellacious side effects including muscle rigidity to the point of posture distortion and/or muscular immobilization. Injectable Haldol (haloperidol) is still used in severe cases, or in medication resistant cases where meds really ARE indicated because the consequences of not using it are worse. Prolixin also enjoys a similar bad reputation. The good news is, your brain is not likely damaged. ...Read more

Is it likely zyprexa is the reason for my akathisia and constipation? Or is it haldol (haloperidol) decanoate?
Could be either: Those both cause side effects including akathisia and changes in gastrointestinal functioning. It could be that each one causes a separate side effect. For example, it could be the Haloperidol Decanoate causing the akathisia and the Olanzapine causing the constipation, for example although this is only a hypothesis. I would talk to your prescribing physician about your side effects. Stay safe! ...Read more
