Neither.: These two drugs should only be used short time. Like any other addicting drugs, tolerance to their effects develops. There are better, healthier treatments out there, both pharmaceutical and behavioral. Talk to your doc about alternatives that do not depend on a controlled substance, or get a second opinion. ...Read more

I take Ambien (zolpidem) 10mg PO HS. In the past I have tried Ativan 2mg, Klonopin 2mg and Restoril 30mg.They All make me groggy! Would Halcion 0.25mg be better?

Sleeping Pill: Let me see if I understand your question correctly. You are taking a sleeping pill and you are concerned that they make you groggy. That is what they are designed to do! If you are groggy when you wake up then you are taking too high of a dose of the medication. All of the doses you have mentioned are the high range of the medication. Halcion is much longer acting. Ask your doc about 1/2 Ambien (zolpidem) ...Read more

If a patient overdosed on halcion, (triazolam) what drug would you give him / her?

Flumazenil (clonazepam): Only works for a short time, so must be continually monitored until halcyon has been metabolized. Fortunately, triazolam is of relatively short duration, unlike valium which has a very long half life, a long duration of action. Can you take halcion (triazolam) and restoril together at the same time?

Can you take halcion (triazolam) and restoril together at the same time?

Not a good idea: Halcion is triazolam, and Restoril is temazepam. Both are benzodiazepine sleeping pills. Their effects are very similar — Restoril lasts longer — and would add together if taken at the same time. It is considered poor medical practice to take multiple medications that do the same thing: the results are less predictable and more drug interactions can result. Both meds are habit-forming too. ...Read more

What do you suggest if my dr has me on triazolam (halcion) for anxiety, but its causing blackouts when I take it so I don't know what?

Talk to doc: Blackouts are a problematic side effect with a sedative like triazolam. Obviously this can be dangerous. You should call the doctor and let her or him know right away and see what is recommended. Stopping triazolam abruptly can lead to withdrawal, which can also be dangerous, if you have been taking it long enough at a high enough dose. Don't combine it with alcohol or drugs. ...Read more
