Hairline Fracture In Neck
A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more
Trauma can: Lead to arthritis. While the basal skull frx may have caused a number of issues at first, long term, if no displaced fragments it should heal without issue. However trauma significant enough to cause a basal skull frx probably did damage to joints of cervical spine, like facets, that could lead to arthritis. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Will skull x rays spot any fracrures, hairline fractures or other damage on the forehead and head?
Depends on size: A complete skull X-ray set (which includes the "Water's view" of the sinuses) are relatively good at spotting big fractures, which are displaced or depressed (i.e., discontinuous). A hairline fracture could be missed on X-ray but picked up on a CT scan. Small hairline fractures can even be missed on CT scan. Best to work from symptoms: if you have pain after an accident, see a doctor to diagnose. ...Read more
Fracture: Hairline fracture implies a mild break in the bone without displacement or angulation. While this still hurts the pain is generally not as bad as if there is a more serious injury such as a displaced or crooked fracture. Regardless the pain is generally localized with regional focal tenderness. There's often some degree of pain with range of motion of the wrist as well. ...Read more
Hamate fracture in left wrist & scaphoid fracture in right wrist.Left wrist has been casted &right wrist has a wrist binder. Both undisplaced.Recovery?
One associated: issue that arises occasionally with a fracture of the radius ( and for some reason nondisplaced fractures) is irritation of the extensor tendon that elevates the thumb tip or the EPL tendon. Another cause of "popping" can be a separate issue in the thumb itself such as a trigger thumb with irritation from the injury or swelling due to it. These issues should be discussed and examined. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes: Metacarpal bossing is caused at the point where the long bones (metacarpal) and the wrist bones meet. This joint has limited motion by design. Yoga wrist positions place additional stress on this joint, causing microfractures. They heal, add callous to the region. Repetitive actions creates a "mountain of callous" to point where it's painful. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Comminuted impacted fracture through the neck of the left humerus with associated mild valgus angulation of the humeral shaft. Can this heal in SLING?
In short YES. : I typically do not perform surgery on nondisplaced fractures of the proximal humerus. I tell people it is like having ice cream on a cone. If the ice cream (humeral head or ball) falls off the cone(shaft) then it needs surgery if the ice cream is tilted or slightly smashed no surgery. If it is blown to prices then surgery. ...Read more

Perhaps: e if the ligament was torn during the fracture it might take awhile for it to go away or you may always have it. Usually when the swelling goes down and it heals the clicking will usually decrease. Sometimes if the fracture causes increase bone formation the ligament clicks over the bone area and again sometimes it will resolve or might always have a click See your provider for some advice ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Is it broken or fractured is a question I am often asked. The answer is basically that a broken or fractured bone is the same thing. A fracture means a break in the cortex or the strong layer of outer bone cells. In an adult the average time for that to heal varies greatly but is often considered to ...Read more
